James McTeigue to direct Conan?

A couple of days ago Empire posted an interview with the producer of Conan in which it was revealed that Brett Ratner is no longer attached to direct. Now several movie sites are carrying word that James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) may direct the film. McTeigue's work on V for Vendetta was skillful enough that I'd peg this as a trade-up over Ratner if it comes to fruition.

McTeigue is a protege of the Wachowskis (who were once attached to write and direct a new Conan film themselves). It's hoped that production will get underway later this year.

Well, they already proved you can do a good Conan movie with the original 1980 one. Plus the comics being done now by Darkhorse have managed to take almost all of Howard's stories and make a coherent and continuous storyline out of them which again shows it can be done. I'm confident it'll work out.

Thanks. I took my screen name from De Kelley's delivery of that line, so it's good to see the tradition being kept alive.
