Nimoy: Star Trek XI Made Original Series Relevant Again

For Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek seemed to end with Star Trek: The Voyage Home, until J.J. Abrams gave him a call.As reported by, most Star Trek made after the original series didn't have anything to offer for the man...

haha, Nimoy: "Don't tell anybody."

Sorry, too late.

But yeah, as a TOS fan, this has relieved some of my fears.

Also, Nimoy's just bitter cuz he didn't get to direct any Trek films after TVH....
Space, time, and thought are not the separate things they appear to be.

^^^^Well Nimoy does not actually say that in the article.....i think the topic title is a bit misleading.

Nimoy actually says....
"And I was struck by the intensity of their feelings about the classic Star Trek material that we did. By their awareness of what the characters were about, and how important the characters' development was, and how important the ideas of those shows were. I was really touched by them, very touched. In fact, it's been reported I got misty at that meeting, and I actually did," he said.

"Because for a long time, I felt marginalized. I thought, no, (the new Treks) have nothing to do with me," he said. "It's over for me. But these people made me feel that what we had done in the original series was still relevant, and useful, and meaningful, and they wanted to get back in touch with that," he said. "And that's what brought me into the project."

It's funny that some fans act as if this movie is trampling over the original series in an offensive way, but the guy who did as much or more than any other personality to give TOS its wide appeal and longevity understands it very differently...

This is a return to what made Star Trek what it was. Some eggs get broken in the

One fan even asked him to reproduce his legendarily mocked musical performance of "The Legend of Bilbo Baggins," but instead Nimoy forced the Starfleet-suited fan to come up to the stage and perform it himself, even helpfully supplying the lyrics when the fan tried to back out.
Oh man, that would been worth the price alone to see!
