Britain's Got Talent has a shocker

I've been watching American Idol lately, so I was surprised that the UK doesn't put an age limit for this show--but I'm glad they don't.

I saw this online. OMG! This woman is something else!

I hope all goes well for her.

Here's the full version of her segment:

Re: Britain's Got Talent has a shocker

^The British equivalent of American Idol was Pop Idol - in fact the format is British, it was created by British music producer Simon Fuller. That show did have an age limit.

It has, however, been replaced by The X-Factor which allows individuals or groups of any age (above 16) to enter, while American Idol has stuck to the old Pop Idol format.

Britain's Got Talent is not specifically limited to singers, it's an overall talent show as are the various international versions who have used the format.

Everything you see that is American, was probably stolen from English TVs.

Also, the Greek dancers were the best, the father and son one.

^Not stolen, Fuller just sold the Pop Idol format internationally. There was a legal case a while back when ITV (the channel that showed Pop Idol in the UK) did not renew the Pop Idol contract and went with the very similar Simon Cowell created X-Factor instead, as Fuller felt that the two shows were very similar and Cowell had basically ripped off the format. The case was settled out of court, I believe.

Yep, there's never been an original show developed in the US before. It's all British, and all stolen, even the ones where the same people developed both versions.

While we, being a larger television market, have borrowed more from British TV than vice versa, it's hardly a one-way street:

Anyway, on-topic, this lady immediately reminded me of this season's version of Paul Potts. Great performance.

^You know we invented all of your shows. Except we make them cheaper, with less episodes and years between new ones. Your 24 is just a rip-off of our 6. Admittedly, it was a bit boring with our Jack Bauer settling his differences with Marwan over a nice cup of tea, but it was still our idea!

^^ What, even Harry Hill?

It's still a clash between the Devil and the Deep Blue Beeb as far as Saturday nights goes. Very often I plump for a movie or a decent game instead, especially if there's no Who on. Sometimes even the Internet if I'm very desperate.
