It's funny how all the reviews kept stating this show took place 50 years before BSG when the movie clearly opens with a caption that puts it at nearly 60 years before BSG.

I know the series bible stated that Adama fought in the last year of the war but I have a feeling they might retcon that. Just like they retconned Tigh not fighting in the war when they made him a Cylon. I can't see Bill Adama staying out the war for years on end. That doesn't fit his character and I also don't see him as some kind of anti-military type in his youth. Though I've never believed that Razor Miniepisodes establishing that his fighting in the original war consisted of one insignificant battle on the last day of the conflict.

Insignificant? A battlestar was lost

Folks, maybe Caprican live 20 or so years longer than ordinary humans. Some people age better than others. Bill Adama just has good genes is all.
I don't think it's the aging that people have issues with. It's sitting out a decade or so of the war.

I also don't like that it makes him older than Tigh (you know, in apparent age), since it hurts the flashbacks from "Scattered" and "Valley of Darkness." I doesn't make sense for Saul to be calling Bill "kid" anymore when Bill's a year older than him instead of ten years younger.

Well as he is actually a couple of thousand years younger, as you say yourself, its not THAT bad is it?

I watched about half of this tonight, but had to turn it off. Too tired to finish. I don't know, it hasn't hooked me like Galactica did. There's been some interesting concepts, but it's not working for me yet. Some of the CGI struck me as shoddy, too.

I'll have to watch the entire thing from beginning to end before making a judgment, of course, but tell me--does it get better?

It's pretty slow and even dull in the first act. But once

it picks up. The last half kicks ass. And once you see the

you won't be complaining about shoddy CGI, either.

Okay, I finally watched this all the way through, and was much more in the mood for it. I like it a lot, although I'm a bit cloudy as to how this will be sustained for a series. Some of the acting by the younger players was less than I'd expect, but some of it (Zoe) was very, very good. Is it 2010 yet?

Above Average.

I just watched it earlier.

WOW! I really enjoyed it! It was a lot better than I was thinking, somewhat boring at times, but still really good!

Can't wait for the show now.

I was watching Arrested Development, yesterday, and I thought it was funny that the main girl from Caprica also played the original Bland -- er, I mean Ann.

The later half is rather boring, but the universe created with the show is very very interesting and has a lot of possibilities.

Re: Caprica - Grading & Discussion

I think RDM really tied to put it out there that this was so separate from BSG, and would stand on its own. Which it does...but clearly it is pre Galactica. From Joseph and William (Bear's echo of the Adama theme) to watching the Cylon mow down its targets...this is so much the same universe.
That's why it felt so good to watch...it didn't feel that disjointed from BSG really, IMHO.

Just watched it tonight. I voted above average. It starts out pretty slow, but begins moving pretty nice about halfway though. I liked it, but not enough to give it an excellent. It was enough to hook me into the series when it starts playing, so I guess they did their job.
