Re: Friday Night Lights: "Tomorrow Blues" 4/10 - Season finale

I'm sorry. I voted Poor but I meant to vote Excellent.

Excellent episode. If this had been the season finale, it would have been very satisfying. It was still very satisfying.

I do like the "flashing ahead" several months. I think it really worked and each of the characters were given a chance to shine. The scene with Matt bringing his grandmother to the rest home was heartbreaking and I'm glad he pulled her out of there. I do hope he gives college another try. I don't see Matt pursuing a football career but I think he is better than Dillon. I don't really buy Tyra getting accepted to the University of Texas but hey, good for her. Way to go, Billy, for coming through when Tim needed it. I was proud of him. I'd like to see Tim give college a try even though he's someone I don't see leaving Dillon.

Poor Coach Taylor. He deserved a lot better than what he got. Tami was the one who should have been fired. Loved the bit with Buddy and Angela but fuck Buddy for not speaking up for Coach. Still, Taylor at East Dillon could be very intriguing.

Thank you, cast and crew of FNL for giving us a great third season!

Well it looks like my predictions all came true (though we'll have to wait and see if Landry ends up on the East Dillon football team).

Though in a state where football is king, would the school really have forced out a coach who had been to the state championships two out of three years (and won it his first year)? And even if they had, wouldn't some other school have been quick to snatch him up instead of being "banished" to a school that's reopening its doors after however many years?

Excellent.

I also find it hard to believe Tyra would get in to UT, but oh well. What i found really hard to believe was that Lyla was in the number 2 spot in her school. #2? yes, she is one of the smartest of the main cast, but one of the smartest of all the seniors? I guess that crop of seniors was just dumb.

The rest of the episode was great. I can't stand the McCoys, but oh well, it was neat seeing them make the grab for power. I am looking forward to the day when the East Dillon Lions led by Coach Taylor beat the Panthers.

I find it hard to believe to. Eric would have gotten plenty of offers and this Devil's Town has the worst case of "What have you done for me lately" mentality I have ever seen. JD starting over Matt is a perfect example. That being said, I can see how Eric would get thrown out over a powr grab and although I disagree with it, I can see how they would want JD's coach to be coaching him.

That being said, I think the East Dillon storyline is a great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing it play out. It's weird though to be getting away from the Dillon Panthers though.

It is obvious what is going to happen next season. Eric will coach East Dillion and they will end up destroying the Dillion Panthers and make it to state and win then all those who voted against him will hang their head in shame and eat humble pie as they ask him to return to the Panthers for the fifth season.

^ Maybe the McCoys will divorce and the wife will end up with full custody and move to someplace in the East Dillon school district, thus Coach Taylor gets another year with "Todd Marinovich."

So is that what redneck weddings are really like?

Yep, series finale. My bad.

Just got back from Observe and Report and was surprised to see Jesse "Landry" Plemmons in it. He played a mall cop in training and was in scenes with Seth Rogan. As a fan of both Freaks and Geeks and Friday Night Lights, I thought that was pretty cool.

i actually don't think the East Dillon team will win... i think East Dillon will be one of the worse teams. Dillon will crush them based on pure player skill. The season after that, East Dillon will probably win, based on amazing coaching.

My other guess is that Landry will play for East Dillon. he's the character in which you can bring in other characters and have it seem plausible. Since he is dating Tyra (though who knows if that will last through college) she's easy to bring back. With Tyra comes the rest of the Collete women, including Mindy. Mindy brings Billy along, who can easily bring Tim into an episode. Tim could also pull Lyla into an episode if the writers feel like punishing the audience.

As for the town turning on Eric... it doesn't seem that impossible seeing how quickly they turn on everyone that doesnt win. Combine that with the fact that Eric left them before (which might make other schools gunshy), and his wife would rather spend money on education than football... the McCoys have a lot of money the boosters would love to have access to, and a kid with a good arm... seems like a move they would have no problem making...

darthraidr, You got a good assessment there. I hope East Dillion wins, but I'm sure McCoy will see to it that his football team has the best. I'm thinking we might see a suicide in the future. What would happen if McCoy's son kills himself because of the pressure?
