TV Ratings (Friday & Sunday 3rd/5th April) and NEWS (Dollhouse/Reaper)

Start with some good n bad news...

"Fox Leaning Toward 'Dollhouse' Renewal"

The Fox network is just a step away from shaking up its Friday lineup for the 2009-10 season, canning one show and considering a move to a new night for a second

Let's hit the good news first. Airlock Alpha has learned that Fox is looking to give its struggling "Dollhouse" a second season, to see if it can grow some legs on a new night. Fox had originally intended "Dollhouse" to air Mondays with "24," but Fox instead decided to move "House" to that spot.
The audience for "Dollhouse" are not exactly where Fox had hoped they would be, however, critical reaction to later episodes following its February premiere has grown more positive toward the series as it has had the chance to flesh itself out.

The move seems to be an easy one for Fox. While the audience hasn't been as large as expected, it has instead remained stable. It's not a number that Fox uses, but "Dollhouse" carries a BlipNetwork Stability Index Rating of 92.0, better than every other network genre show currently on television outside of "Reaper" on The CW, which has a 94.7.
Other factors in favor of the show continuing is that it's not as expensive as other Fox shows. Much of its upfront costs, including the construction of the elaborate set that is the dollhouse itself, were covered by funds that normally would've paid for a pilot (no pilot was made for "Dollhouse"). Also, while Whedon's Mutant Enemy Productions and star Eliza Dushku's Boston Diva Productions are tied to the series, 20th Century Fox Television is still the primary production company involved, which means its licensing fee is not as steep as it would be if the show was produced by another studio.
now for the bad news...

Reaper" creators/executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV. Under the seven-figure pact, the duo will join a 20th TV series and develop projects for the studio.

Fazekas and Butters' exclusive deal with 20th TV effectively seals the fate of their bubble CW series as it calls for them to leave "Reaper," produced by ABC Studios, where the two had been based.
now for the ratings...

Dollhouse is screwed unless Fox wants to keep it around just to keep the wacko fans quite.

BTW the Dollhouse news was posted after the friday night numbers, If I was Fox put it at 8pm right now. I would also if waiting till midseason 2010 to air any 2nd season pickup, re-air the 1st season over the summer and 2nd season opener after Idol for maximum exposure...

Saying all that I still feel Dollhouse is doomed.

Damn, I'd rather Dollhouse would die and Reaper would live. Time to reinvest my energies on the survival of Chuck and
while resigned that

That sucks for Reaper, it's a cute show. I will be friggin' shocked if they renew Dollhouse with those numbers. How desperate is Fox for a show? Do they really think it will double/triple its audience on a different night? And what's this about "no pilot was made for Dollhouse"? We've all read how they made a pilot then scrapped the entire thing and reshot everything (which doesn't sound very "cheap")...

They'd have to be smokin' crack to think that. It never works.

Looks like Helo thinks Dollhouse is done and can't wait to jump back to Skiffy for one of those try-em-out series pilots. Personally I'm more interested in The Phantom.

I'd rather Dollhouse was given a chance than not, but the numbers are very poor. At least it looks as though Fox have learned a lesson or two over recent years. TSCC was given a chance last year, albeit with the help of a Terminator movie coming out this year, and potentially a Dollhouse renewal this year. Shame they weren't so considerate/helpful with Firefly.

Bad news for Reaper though
