Yes, but the fact remains that if they don't have zoning ordinances against huge, FTL-capable, tylium-fueled spaceships operating right next door to office buildings, then it's no wonder they were dumb enough to be beaten by Cylons.
Right, like how coastal docks in the real world frequently dock nuclear-powered subs and aircraft carriers? Nothing different.
Nuclear powered subs don't fly, create huge amounts of terrestrial noise and vibration, or run the risk of plowing into a building.
I thought I heard of something that does that... weird metal bird... carry jet fuel...

Oh yeah. Airplanes.

Dear Gods. Did I somehow take a wrong turn into the Trek XI forum?

Look at all those cool buildings. I wonder what the tall pointy one in the background is for.

Frakking Gods dammit I can't wait for Caprica.
Caprica takes place 50 years prior to this. A lot of those buildings might not even be there then. (might not be any spaceships, either...)

THE BUILDINGS ARE 10 TIMES TOO TALL!!!

I live across the bay from Caprica City, and I plan to post a video on ColonialTube showing how this is all wrong...

Re: Screengrab of Caprica city in Daybreak pt. 1?

Battlestar wiki has 2 more pics of Caprica City from the same scene. I've stolen them and put them up here for you to see.

Is that Chinese writing on the buiding in the first shot?

Those buildings are really sweet! I love the style, contemporary, yet futuristic.

Still fascinated by the tall, spire-like tower in the background. Maybe it's Graystone's HQ?

Those first four "kanji" under the "C" sort of look like it...

But the fifth, 1.5-unit-high one looks Tholian/Vulcan (i.e. non-Chinese/Japanese) or something...?

Sure. Lots of downtown urban areas have airports.

^I see no difference between placing a spaceport on your coast and putting this in Queens.

At least Battlestar Galactica's spacecraft can take-off vertically.

Speaking of which, the jumbo jets that land at Hong Kong's airport fly within the city, very close to skyscrapers... if a 747 can do it, an Intersun Liner can do it.

There's one example. Ok, off the top of my head...

- Minneapolis/St. Paul (no terrestrial noise vibrations, eh? Tell that to people in South Minneapolis)
- New York
- London
- Washington, D.C.

Huh. Only planes I recall hitting buildings in those cities was intentional.

Nice danger sign. Quite apt.

You come pretty close to a few buildings in Atlanta too. I don't find the ships that close to the city that weird at all, or really a big enough detail to care about. I'm sure the CGI guys will make sure the spaceships avoid the buildings no problem.
