My song!!!...

Well, as some of you know, I sold my first song about two months ago. Song publishing is a hard thing to break into. I am pretty sure that most of you wont care for the kind of genre I am writing in, mushy ballads. But if you'd like to hear the of music I am writing here is a free song >>>>>>> LINK...you can listen to on my MYSPACE page.

If and when the song I sold gets recorded, and it looks like it just may, I'll let you all know when it does.

Congratulations on getting your song published. That is quite an accomplishment. I have known some pretty decent songwriters who have never managed to get one their songs published.

Good luck to you on getting on it recorded.

Back in 1985 I had a "hit" on Dr. Demento. It was a parody, so I don't own the rights but it was #1 on Demento several weeks and at the end of the year it was #14 on the "Funny 25".

Fun times. Congrats! I made nothing but "bragging rights". You go for the gusto.

I remember DR DEMENTO quite well. Part of my 'era of open minded' memories. Meaning, stoned listening to Dr. Demento!! You bring back some nice, if smokey, memories!!!

The song was a parody of Wham!'s "Careless Whisper". Our version was "Hairless Sister". I was shocked to find a copy someone had digitized on the old Napster back in the day!

My uncle did a song on there called SHE'S A ZOMBIE. The actually got approached to make a single and they did. The video aired ONE TIME and ONE TIME ONLY on MTV...and my uncle is on there playing keyboard...

Yes, you are right, some very good writers never get their songs published. I knew this guy in 12th grade who was light years ahead of the rest of us, in terms of his writing ability, writing about real life. He died in a car-crash two years later and his talent went with him.

Life can be cruel...

Thumbs way up, Rob! That's awesome! I met Billy Joel about twelve years ago and asked him how someone can to break into the industry and he said plainly, "You just have to keep being a pain in the ass." Basically, keep plugging away until someone finally gives you a chance because the bugger about the industry is no one listens to you until you sell something. You're on your way!

Not bad, Rob. It actually reminds me of a bunch of Bee Gees ballads. No kidding, if this was sung by Barry Gibb, I'd definitely buy it. But then again, I'd buy everything sung by the Gibbs.

Re: My song!!!...

Very nice, Robert. Congrats. Listening to it, I'm pretty sure somebody will record it. It is right up the alley of plenty of artists. Just wait 'til some producer gets a hold of it and injects a lot of production and studio trickery into it.
