I just happen to be going to Vegas on May 8th (opening day) so I'll be checking it out. What great news!

Good to hear, I owe myself a vacation after getting screwed in December. I was bummed when it closed.

I had put in for the time off that weekend more than a month ago just based on the rumor that it'd open May 8. Good to have it confirmed.

The Experience LIVES!!! Excellent! And maybe having it located near the Fremont St. Experience, etc. will be better as it is part of multiple attractions, rather than having to go out-of-your-way to visit the LV. Hilton.

Well, it's now not near the monorail and not near the main strip... that's not so good. But hopefully being off strip can mean there's less pressure on the real estate and it can do better.

But there's a shiteload of foot traffic there, especially on weekends, especially at night. More than the Hilton ever got. This is the kind of location STTE should have always had.

Before you get too excited, read the announcement here again. All that's opening up initially is a new Quarks and gift shop. Now, it's a start, and the fact that they have signed a contract with Paramount to go further is excellent news, but it will be a while, if ever, until we see the rides back. It will certainly be at least a year until we see the cool exhibits and models return.

That's true but those of us who have been paying close attention to this have pretty much been expecting that. In fact, almost all reports have talked about opening STTE-A in stages. While those of us who want instant gratification may be disappointed, this seems like a good business model; see if there really is a market for a new multi-media Experience or just a ST fan gathering site. Having worked and visited the Experience over the past few years, I would be satisfied with the latter if it meant it would be around longer.
