Below average.

The worst thing I can say is I just didn't care. I started reading a magazine at about the 30 minute mark.

A real disappointment this close to the end.

Does a four-month-old fetus even have a fully developed brain?

I honestly don't know. Can anyone answer this for me?

Hahahahaha

But on a side note, I have to say that was one of the most boring episodes ever. For a second I thought I was watching a soap opera.

^A human fetus of that age has a very undeveloped brain. But given how little we know of Cylon physiology (besides the oft chided "silica pathways"), who knows?

The episode Daybreak Part II will be 2 hours long so that probably makes it 5.

They better be important then. Hopefully none are as boring as Tory. Or as annoying as Ellen can be.

I voted average. It was dull, probably the worst episode of this season. It just did not have that hook that so many episodes have. That "WTF?" moment. The only moments I found to be saying WTF was in a bad way, like when the chief votes to go? Huh? That's way out of character. Ellen one episode acting like one type of person and then one week later she's all over the place. Maybe it was intentional but I didn't like it.

Also there is chaos on the lower decks? On a ship with marines? We knew some civilians were aboard (like the harem) but they are acting like its a whole lot now. Why? Why arenent they aboard the ships out in the fleet?

I hope the final 4 are better.

Presumbably they aren't all on the ships in the fleet because they've lost some ships along the way. Remember, when they crossed the stellar nursery in Season 3, they took the civies aboard Galactica and piloted the ships with skeleton crews. Some ships were lost, ergo, there isn't space in the fleet for all those civies. Plus, we know Pixis was lost in the Season 4 opener. That alone was 600 people. Some of the surviving vessels are also utility ships, like the Tylium ship. They are designed for large capacities.

A Kind Average. B-story plots like Baltar giving food to people is somethign I can accept in season 1 or 2 but not so close to the end of the series. What pointless filler. Why did they keep showing Adama walking around looking at the ship? They had to cut stuff out and leave this in? What was the point of getting Caprica six pregnant?

Michael Hogan and the return of the real Sharon, Boomer saved this from being any worse.

And how can Boomer find Galactica and Cavil can't?

I too am disapointed that Jane Espenson is in control "Caprica".

Re: Battlestar Galactica 4x16: "Deadlock"

I certainly agree the story story was boring because the execution wasn't great...the story is relevant to the overall arc for Six in particular and the Cylons in general...

1. Six snapped the baby's neck in the premiere. Now justice is served. Rather than losing her own life; she must experience the pain of losing a child herself.

2. Tigh, a Cylon now, experiences this same pain. Note he turns to Adama. This is important.

3. At the end Roslin and Adama realize the Cylons have been adding their own dead to the shrine on Galactica since the Alliance.

Now, why is all of this so important? It's important because, in the mini, Six asked the question "Are you alive?" And in Season 1, we were introduced to the idea that the Cylons believed love is necessary to bear children, and we know now they got this idea from the Final Five as part of the legacy they passed down to the Eight Models.

Consider this: One of the overarching ideas of the show is that the Humans believe Cylons to be subhuman. The Cylons have been slowing becoming more human. In contrast, humans have often come off as being more machinelike than human. On top of all of this, the human story has been one of profound grief.

Now the Cylons are faced with this too. On one level, they are mourning the loss of their comrades. On another, now, Six has experienced something that only one other Cylon, Athena, experienced: grief over losing a child. So now the experience of grief is not confined to any one race. The Cylons are not more human because they can reproduce...the 13th tribe wasn't more human because of reproduction or even resurrection...rather, what makes them more human is their capacity to grieve...and it is this shared experience, for Cylons are now no longer able to resurrect and they are again faced with the prospect that they may not be able to reproduce en masse, that can draw the two races together. It isn't merely the joy of giving life, whether creating it as the Final Five did the Eight, or reproduction as human have for generation and Cylons have been striving to do, but the sense of grief, loss, mortality that makes them (and consequently us) "human."

That is why Six "had" to get pregnant.

True, and also, who knows how the Cylon "soul" develops?

I'm thinking that if that is what has happened, then the child "soul" has access to memories and knowledge that would be stored chemically in the brain it now has access to.

Re: Battlestar Galactica 4x16: "Deadlock"

Average. A disappointing letdown really. This episode was chock full of shots of repairing the Galactica, love squabbles, and other petty behavior. The Baltar and his cult scenes seem much less interesting now than before. Been there done that. I feel generous giving it an average.

The only reason I gave it even an average was that it did hint and what the solution will be. How the cycle will be broken. Cylons and human should merge rather than remaining separate but pure.

So, that's the choice at play here. Do the two groups go separate ways and just keep repeating the cycle or do they merge and get past it? Helen will have to get past her feelings of superiority over her "children" just like the humans can't feel superior over their machine children.

As a fair few other people have commented, pretty average fare really. Enjoyable enough, but this close to the end, I would've liked some more momentum building up before the conclusion. And as much as I like Baltar, I wasn't too thrilled to see him slip back into what I think of as Bashir On Crack mode. I've not made up my mind about that whole story thread since it began.

It does seem odd last week was an hour of pure exposition about the Final Five, and this was kinda treading water. It could just be a clever way of giving some calm before the storm tho...
