Star Trek TOS season 1 on blu-ray 1st review

The Digital Bits has a great detailed review up of Season 1 of TOS on Blu-ray!

CBS's new Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 1 is THE best argument for Trek fans to upgrade to the Blu-ray format you could ask for. Everyone who worked on this set should be proud. I can't WAIT to get my hands on Seasons 2 and 3 on Blu-ray (both of which are due in stores later this year). Simply put: This is just a superior TV on BD release and it's a must-have for every Trek fan.
Also details about the BD-Live access features and a walkthrough review.

also note about the Text commentaries:
not every episode that had text commentary on the original DVDs has Starfleet Access here, so you are losing SOME content (though its value is limited).

On a similar note of Trek TV on Blu-ray Here is the post I made on Friday April 17 about the first announcement that Paramount UK will release ST:TNG TV series on Blu-ray (as standard definition NOT HIGH DEFINITION) on Sept. 14, 2009. Please discuss TNG only at that link and not hijack this thread.

DVD Beaver also has a review of the season 1 set featuring screencaps. Having never purchased TOS on any format before, all I can say is WOW!

I just read a good review of the Blu-rays at Upcomingdiscs.com:

I am really looking forward to that toggle feature.

I have steered clear of any TOS on TV and in my DVD/Video collection for about 17 months now....and its going to be worth it......i am so psyched about TOS coming out on BR.

Woohoooo.

Star Trek season 1 review

the hdroom gives it's Blu-ray review of TOS Season1 here:
http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Star_T...ay_Review/4611

Star Trek: The Original Series: Season One comes to Blu-ray with notable improvements over its HD DVD predecessor in "every" area and at roughly half the price.
overall 9.1 score

I don't have a Blu ray player yet but hopefully I'll get one by the end of the year.
And then I'll be getting the Blu ray TOS as well.

According to a review I read at Trekweb, both original versions and enhanced versions of the episodes are in HD.

Interesting bit from that review:
My insider information at Paramount tells me there are discussions about giving The Next Generation the same treatment we’ve gotten here. There are some obstacles, particularly with the way the first season was shot. There’s even a chance that those episodes could find their way to widescreen if they undergo that treatment. It’s all speculation right now, but for the first time in a few years it looks like the sky’s the limit once again, and Star Trek is on the rise.

I got a bluray for Christmas and in just a few months I've been absolutely amazed by the movies I've seen -- not new movies, but the classics, like Casablanca, Patton, and 2001.
I've read and heard from folks that the bluray PATTON is an utter abomination, with grain-smoothing that obliterated detail on sets big enough to discern facial specifics. Are you old enough to remember seeing it theatrically in dimension 150?

Quick question; I understand that the Blu-Ray version with have both the re-mastered and the original effects; will the "normal" Remastered boxsets be the same?

I'm wondering if, when watching the versions without the new effects, we also have the original opening theme music over the credits. Although the re-recorded music sounds pretty good, it's slightly different to my ears and just doesn't sound right. Also, they added too much reverb to Shatner's opening monologue, and that bugs me the most.
