Umm... how? By definition, digital doesn't have grain.
They're probably talking about noise as opposed to grain. While they are different phenomenons, they can look similar.

So far I have all of the season on DVD EXCEPT season 1 which I have the HD-DVD of. The HD version is noticeably better in terms of video quality; however, unlike other shows/movies, I find I don't notice the difference when watching due to the inherent grain/shaky-cam with BSG.

I probably won't upgrade the BSG dvds to blu-ray... although in-movie menus would be nice!
