Pine To Receive Award

On April 2nd, Chris Pine will receive an award from ShoWest.

As reported by MSNBC, Pine will be given the ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow award at the ShoWest exhibition in Los Vegas on April 2nd. ShoWest, a trade and convention show for the cinema exhibition and distribution community, runs from March 30 through April 2nd.

The ShoWest Star of Tomorrow award honors actors and actresses on the rise. Pine joins past recipients Shia LeBeouf, Hayden Christensen, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp.

"Pine's impressive skills on the screen and stage will be sure to be showcased, with his performance as Captain Kirk, in the much anticipated release of 'Star Trek,' said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the ShoWest exhibition.

It's kind of funny to accept an award for something you haven't done yet.

I'm not sure this is much of an honor, given the "caliber" of fellow awardees...

Motly crew there.

I just rented Bottle Shock. I wanna see for myself how well he does in a real role.

All that means is that you don't like them. The award is for up-and-coming movie stars, not "actors that darkwing likes."

No one said they had to be good actors....

Seriously though, given the profile success of most of those names, it's probably a good sign for his future career. It certainly won't hurt his profile, or the public awareness of him, which has a lot to do with being successful in the movie game.

Re: Pine To Receive Award

obviously none of you have never been to show west before, the star of tomorrow is something that is presented to up and comming talent whom the Theatre Owners and those in the Theatre exhibition industry think are going to be big one day.

And for the record they are usually spot on in presenting it to people who have gone on and become huge
