Still, despite that preference of mine, I voted this episode at the top of the heap.

What I'm really surprised about is Gaeta said that the Senior Staff was being taken to the Brig and the only two people we saw escorted out were Adama and Tigh.

He told the marines to lock-up the senior staff somewhere else. I forget where.

Incidentally, would you folks mind spoiler-coding anything from next week's promo? Some of us don't watch those.
Yeah, no shit. What is it with some fucking people? I don't think I'm going to bother looking at this forum again until the final episode airs.

Anyway. This episode was frakking intense. The mutiny was difficult to watch (in a good way). One of the best of the series.

I could have sworn he said in the Brig - which makes sense though because that was where they took Helo.

What surprises me is that they didn't take on Cylon tactics either. They should have headed to the Damage Control Station and Auxiliary Fire Control like the Centurions attempted in Season 2 when they invaded.
Thank the Maker...

One of the best episodes of the season and probably series. So much intensity and finally we're back to the cast being a lot more active. It was great to see some action with EJO and now McDonnall and finally re-emerged to remind me of why I liked Roslin in the first two seasons. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the Mutiny story from last week, but damn this is awesome. I too love what they've done with Gaeta in the last few episodes and can't wait till next week to see what happens next.

Who was the civilian guy with Racetrack who tried to capture Lee? I remember not liking him, but don't remember who he is. Though if I were Starbuck, I would've shot him through the throat so that it'd take him a while to die.

Sort of like how Gaeta should have his three remaining limbs broken off before his death.

Go gaeta! I hope the rebellion is successful so the fleet can be run in a truly participatory style instead of being run by a cabal of a few insiders who don’t feel the need to consult or even explain themselves to the people. Kinda ironic that in the first and second seasons, Roslin insisted on a civilian government so that just such a thing would not happen. Now, she all but rules as a queen, then in a time of turmoil she takes a vacation and now returns and thinks she deserves to lead Very distasteful.. Shes a lot more likeable and effective when she does explain herself, like in season 2 when she convinced much of the fleet to go with her to kobol, or in the first half of season 4 when she talked to the qorum about the alliance with the cylons. That’s why her radio address in this episode was the most pragmatic and cunning thing she could do-she is a great politician.

One of the things I love about this show is that events are not forgotten; their impact is felt after they have played out, and no characters have a reset button. That’s why 4 years on, we still have anger and grief over the fall of the twelve colonies. Those emotions had to be suppressed so that the fleet go on, but suppressing their emotions and being physically cooped-up in their ships finally got to be too much. The disappointment of earth removed their motivation to keep everything bottled up and stay the course, and having an alliance with cylons shoved their throats was the last straw. Now everyone is just saying “frak it” and letting everything out. The catharsis is great stuff. The cylons seem to have never really confronted the magnitude of their crime (destroying the colonies) was; hopefully when they are confronted with the humans rage they will finally feel some guilt. At this point, they seem to feel that the genocide was a mistake, but see it as more of just a wrong turn in their philosophic quest then a great moral sin. Frakkin machines!

Well, this episode would be at home in early season 2, as the next logical step from the martial law - we're now at TOTAL FRAKKIN' MAHEM! So, erm, Excellent then.

After the casual buildup pace of last week's episode, I was a little surprised to be thrown headfirst into shipwide revolution, but it was so well placed and well done that the sucker punch still hurts. Felix Gaeta you motherfrakker. You have all the right motivation and reasoning but you're so doing it the wrong way.

I give a big hell yeah to the re-emergence of Roslin and Starbuck. Roslin, who has been sulking for a couple of weeks now, finally gets her shit together to help try and restabilise the fleet. Your little speech in the last episode about being allowed to take a break was heartbreaking, not in the least because you were taking a break at the wrong time. It may have taken a horrible series of events to actually get you up and about but hey, better late than never.

Starbuck really pulled herself together, feeling better than she has done in months. You can really tell! It's the most cohesive we've seen her in a loooooooong time. Shooting everybody left, right and centre seemed a bit OTT in reflection, but it soon became apparent that a them vs. us ideology had already set into the fleet. Plus, when she came to Lee's rescue in the hanger deck, that was all kinds of awesome.

Adama just gets better and better. Slugging the guy that was taking them to the brig, and Adama-glaring at the other one; hee! And then after making sure Roslin gets off Galactica, he takes a (final?) stand against Captain Kelly (?!?) and the rebels. I'm glad that he and Tigh are BFF again. It's good that a little notion such as secretly being a Cylon has had no long-term damage on their relationship. That alone shows some hope of resolution along the way, even if half the cast is murdered getting there.

I liked how the story involved former Pegasus officers in the coup. Any callback to that era is welcomed, but the tie-in with the old hurt feelings certain Pegasus officers held for Galactica officers was very good. Weird - all the Cylons being held captive are totally innocent, and don't know what they can offer the rebels, whilst the humans on the rest of the ship go nuts and shoot everyone and everything in sight, complaining about, erm, Cylons.

I hope Zarek eats a bullet next week. That is all.

I still think there has to be some payoff to Ellen being the final Cylon. That has to be revisited at some point. My predictions is that the mutineers end up executing one of the Final Five Cylons (Tigh?), and he wakes up next to Ellen, who has the secret of resurrecting without resurrection ships or something.

I thought Kara a bit too 'kill em all' I mean some are on the fence cant shoot everyone but I did understand her point of view by that time.
She didn't shoot enough of them.

This mutiny is like any revolution. There are two camps. The smallest are the true believers. They'll die for the cause with a smile on their face. Then there's the other, much larger group. "Throw some cylons in the brig? Sure I can do that." They go with the program until shit gets real. When people start losing their lives just for being on your side, they switch sides real quick.

Even if it means capping some of the on-the-fence types, its the price for killing this mutiny in its infancy. It honestly would probably end up saving more lives in the long run. Adama should have given Kara a free hand. The traitors will end up going out the "Cally Tyrol Memorial Airlock" anyway.

Anywho... I rated this excellent. This was easily the best episode of the season so far. I can only hope that this is the shape of things to come for the remainder of the series.

Is there a "FRAKKIN' AMAZING" rating ? I would have used it !

Damn, this was intense from start to finish, on the edge of my seat litterally... Kara's line when she saved Lee was priceless, "i can do this all day" or something to the effect. True Starbuck style

Now i can't wait for next week, eventhough i wish i didn't look at the promo, damn SciFi !

Re: Battlestar Galactica 4x13: "The Oath"

Gaeta's character arc is up there with Damar's in DS9 and Wesley's in Angel.

So much bitterness. So much hatred. And understandable.

Loved that ending as well:

"Its been an honour to serve with you, my friend."

To be continued.
