'Star Trek XI' Super Bowl Commercial

A new commercial promoting Star Trek XI is due to air in Super Bowl XLIII, but fans are already getting a peek of it courtesy of YouTube.

As found on YouTube, fans of Star Trek XI won't have to wait until Super Bowl Sunday to see the new Star Trek XI commercial.

The thirty second ad is just one of the commercials slated for Super Bowl XLIII, in which the Pittsburgh Steelers will go for their sixth Super Bowl Championship, playing against the Arizona Cardinals who are seeking their first Super Bowl win. (Go Steelers!)

A thirty-second commercial is setting advertisers back three million dollars. Most ads will be thirty second ads, at least one will run for fifteen seconds and a handful will run for a full minute. The ads took until almost the last day to sell out unlike in previous years, due to the economy.

The first half of the Star Trek XI commercial features James Kirk. His first meeting with Leonard McCoy is shown, and the rest of the commercial is fast-paced action scenes.

Good commercial even though it's a bit quick. Not really worth just watching the Super Bowl to see that one commercial though. Hopefully there is a second trailer on the way or something but it's decent enough and whetting the appetite until the time comes.

I think they're marketing (doesn't mean the film is like that) at the young crowd with action and titty... and I can't imagine Kirk saying "Man".

I don't know if the movie is going to be good overall, but it looks like it will have impressive visuals.

Yeah, they did. And the Breen attacked San Francisco in DS9.

No biggie. We'll see how it works out in the movie. Without seeing the movie, it's too soon to know if it's good or not. My cynical side says "not!" but my hopeful fangirl side says "good."

One of my fears of this movie is that it doesn't focus on the Big Three of Kirk, Spock, AND McCoy, so I'm glad that the quick commercial outright names McCoy.

And so what if Kirk says "man?" He's a kid in that scene. Just wait till he hits late middle age and starts wearing graphic Tees under his uniform that say "Go Climb A Rock."

Agreed, it is impressive, though I was hoping for a few more newer images, rather than a re-working of what was already released in the first trailer (I don't mean the teaser from last year). For what it is, a 30 ad, it looks really great, and I too, liked the brief exchange between Kirk and McCoy. It seems like the right chemistry is there between Pine and Urban that captures the Kirk/McCoy friendship.

If nothing else, yeah, this film certainly will look great. As I've said before, I accept there's going to be changes. I just still hope it feels like TOS.
