What about supplies being airdropped by Dharma (a-la Season 2)?

I'm not convinced Whidmore or Ellie were 'born' on the island
Neither am I. Richard may have always been there, but I get the feeling that the Others have always been kind of a conglomerate of natives and imported folks.

- or came from the Black Rock (if we're still on that theory).
We're not. Or at least I'm not.

As for why he thinks it's his Island and not Ben's ... greedy? who knows?
I have sort of a theory that Richard and Jacob were about to choose Widmore as leader of the Others but Locke's intervention sent Richard to the mainland to check John out. Consequently, they abandoned Widmore as a possible leader. As to how he was "expelled" who the fuck knows?

What about Jacob's list? Who's on it & why? Or was that something Ben made up and lied to the Others about?

I was never entirely convinced that those came from off-island. There could be an automated station somewhere which launches those into the air to simulate a drop.

If that's true, then how long has this been going on for? Since the 70's? How is the food still fresh? Not everything was canned if I recall correctly.

How would an automated station get a brand new washer and dryer delivered to The Swan

Ben? Lie? Bullshit!

I have a feeling that one of the series's final mindfucks will revolve around something we've long held to be true but Ben was lying about.

Hmm, good point. Okay, amended hypothesis: I'm not convinced those drops originated in the present.

Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing a new DHARMA station: The Parachute!

Above average. I guess I was a little off thinking the Big Band music was from WWII, when it was from nearly a decade later. I wonder what kind of music the US armed services radio tended to play in the 50s. They probably weren't jumping on the Elvis bandwagon as soon as the statesides stations. Maybe they really were just playing the "oldies" into the 50s?

Funny watching Faraday quietly freaking out when Sawyer was pointing a gun at his mom. I guess he didn't have that must faith in the "the timeline cannot be changed" rule. People seem to have figured out who Eloise is, but I got it just from watching Faraday's reactions, it just seemed like he realized who the girl was - I completely missed the reference to her name (and forgot that she's named Ellie anyway) - anyone else figure it out that way?

...still not right. That washer and dryer were definately late 90s or or 2000s model.

Maybe it was on Desmond's yacht and Kelvin salvaged it to use in the hatch. See, no continuity problems here.

Maybe Dharma scientists were ahead of their time? Maybe they invented those types of washers and dryers back in the 80's, and the outside world only caught up to them in the 90's?

Perhaps Widmore's mercenary attitude towards the island threatened the others and they banished him. Then Ellie volunteered to move the island to keep him from coming back. Could explain why both are off-island and trying to return.
