I'm really surprised to see this much love for someone I think of as a minor character. I guess she's been more in the spotlight since I stopped reading, shortly after she got de-Binaryed.

But Even I think this stunt is bogus.

Shooter predicted years ago that one day the corporations that own the comic companies would one day realize that the don't need to print comics in order to use the characters for movies.

Well there was the whole Dominion War what you think they can replace all those Miranda crews that blew up with happy thoughts.

The heroes returned Avengers from 96ish? Carol was losing her powers and fell off the wagon and Tony freaking Stark talked her down from heroing while pissed?

Alcoholics, they just get so preachy after they think they've fixed themselves.

Name once Spidey has had a nip of courage before he'd go out to clobber Kraven?

Carol and Tony should have failed their registration exams.

Damn right he is. Rockabye BANG!

    THIS. :bolian:

Carol's my favorite heroine in the MU. I only like two of the girls in the entire U, and Emma Frost is the other (so sue me I like my women kinky, strong, and hot)

I'm not going to criticize you, Emma is one of my favorite female characters as well. I've really loved what's happened with her the past 10-15 years now. I get worried when storylines look like she could slide back into the 'bad side'.

Tony was only talking one alcoholic to another alcoholic..one that was in trouble, and one that was his friend. Alcoholics in Recovery such as Tony, usually have no problem with others who drink, and don't, in general, "preach" temperance.
Just thought I'd point that out.

As for this story line? Carol isn't really dead.

All I can do at this point is shake my head and laugh. Obviously, it's Quesada's mission in life for nuMarvel to beat out nuBSG and All-Star Batman as the most juvenile kewlness on the planet.

How much shit is Carol going to get from the rest of the new Averngers when she shows up with her tail between her legs at Bucky's pad?

"Sorry for spending the last 6 months hunting y'all like dogs."

Is "Carol" taking on a new costumed identity? Because when she was Ms Marvel, she wasn't hiding her civilian identity right? Unless Norman is so bipolar that he's huntng Carol while leaving all and any Ms Marvels alone because the "real(legally sanctioned one") is living with him at Avengers Tower... Is Karla sleeping with Norman yet?

Why do I think that the Goblin formula that made him so powerful is like antiviagra?

Actually, it was Carol which in few different occasions let the new avengers "slip away" from the registration forces. The entire "Tony's lap dog" thing which was thrown at her is only about the Julia Carpenter stuff, otherwise, it is really not correct.

As for new identity - I am not sure. It seems that she will have new civilian identity: Cathrine Donovan. Also, the return of Binary powers was teased (cover to Ms. Marvel # 37) so maybe she return to Binary name as well?

Your hypothesis on the goblin formula is unbased as well. Did you really forget this:

Or maybe, like most sane people, you just want to forget this?

Goblin9, you need to make the picture smaller, you're ruining the frames and hotlinking iis forbidden here and will get you a warning as soon as a moderator notices.

Remind me who the blonde is? Is that a flashback to the rape of Gwen Stacy?

    Hermiod, see what I meant?

there are more clues everywhere. Hell, think about it, Carol did not get any sort of "funeral" issue, Cap had a whole-mini, wasp got one, Carol gets 2 one shots in a short time and no funeral issues? Not even in her own series?

    Doesn't make much sense, huh?

Thanks for the warning, Gardner. Yes, this image is from the "Sins Past" incident.

^Yeah, but I figured that was because not many people cared about Carol.

Is her death a response to poor sales on her book?

I have no idea how well her book sells or any interest.

The way Marvel's going at the moment, I'd give it five minutes before she and a male New Avenger act upon their long-unspoken lust for each other and all is forgiven.

Look how quickly She-Hulk went from boffing Stark to beating the crap outta him (before getting a dose of S.P.I.N. tech...)

And, yeah, I know... it's She-Hulk... but c'mon. Clint Barton's only been restored to life for... how long? And he's had more tail than I've gotten in 10 years. These characters are horn-dogs.

Ms. Marvel book does not sell very good. Diamond (the selling for retailers in the US) puts the book in the 30000 copies area with a steady slow decline.

the books of 20000 and below are those which usually get canceled.

The reason for the titular character change is definitely about boosting sales during Dark Reign. But this does not mean the slaughtering of Carol, just a temporary change in direction, like all Dark Reign titles.

Now, Hermiod - just think about it. If the reason for not putting a funeral issue is "People do not care enough", do you really think they would publish one-shots like "Ms. Marvel - Storyteller"? A funeral one-shot would sell better for sure. Esp. if you can put "Dark Reign" tag on the cover.

Also, people care more about Wasp in "Mighty Avengers" than about Carol Danvers in "Ms. Marvel"? She really isn't some random character.

Carol Danvers just joined the New Avengers. She appeared in 48 and 49 and on the cover of 50. Bendis announced in an interview, the same day Brian Reed tried to market the death of Carol Danvers, that Carol will be a big part in New Avengers.

As for the Simon thing, I read somewhere that Bendis mentioning Wonder Man to appear in New Avengers 51. Also, I clearly remember Reed answering in his board to Wonder Man fan, that Wonder Man will appear in the Avengers and will continue a plot started in Ms. Marvel (The only plot he got there was romance with Carol).
