Shatner To Open Screen Actors Guild Awards

William Shatner will open the Fifteenth Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ceremony with a Champagne Taittinger toast.

As reported by NewsBlaze, The 2009 SAG Awards will be handed out in a ceremony at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Sunday, January 25th. The award ceremony will be broadcast on both TNT and TBS beginning at 8 P.M., with a repeat broadcast shown on TNT at 11 P.M.

Shatner is no stranger when it comes to SAG nominations, and this year is no exception. He was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Boston Legal. Shatner is up against James Spader of Boston Legal, Michael C. Hall of Dexter, Hugh Laurie of House M.D., and Jon Hamm of Mad Men. In 2006, Shatner was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, losing out to Sean Hayes of Will & Grace.

As part of the Boston Legal cast, Shatner has been nominated along with his fellow actors four different times, from 2006-2009, for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. This year, Boston Legal is up against The Closer, Dexter, House M.D. and Mad Men for the award.
