Marvel Comics "Star Trek Phase 3"?

Just picked-up a copy of the Star Trek comics CD-ROM and am very happy to have spent the money for it. Great stuff.

Was browsing through the Marvel section and hist on the "Collector's Edition" Issue 2 preview book. This was a nine or ten page preview of Marvel's upcoming ST titles back in '98, IIRC. The next-to-last page advertises "coming soon" a title called "Star Trek Phase 3" which would feature an all-new ship and all-new crew.

Do not recall ever hearing about this before, and it does not seem to have ever been published. anyone know if there were ever any details released on what this book might have been about?

It was by Martin and Mangels, and you can read some fragments of information about it here:

As I recall, it would have featured the USS Slayton and its crew, a ship that later showed up in their Section 31: Rogue.

I thank you, sir.

Very interesting. I had no idea about this when I was collecting the Marvel comics back way back then. Too bad.

That webpage has about as many details as we've ever released. I forgot we had talked about it in a few places!

These new series would have been great, and would have run alongside Academy & Early Voyages very well. It was a shame that Marvel yanked the licence so soon.
