Just used the song "Sinnerman" for running scenes, and "Night Train" for fight scenes, and he might as well just go ahead and appeal to younger teenagers by adding a Britany Spears song.

Well, it's certainly more interesting than NEM. I'll give it that.

How does everyone know all these bits of dialogue? Or am I missing something???

There is a thread on this in the STXI forum.
For the love of god, that sounds terrible.

That much is certain.

I really want to like this movie, but I'm beginning to have some reservations, based on these scenes and the very different looking exterior for the Big E. I don't know, I need to think about this a bit more and see the trailer before I know how I really feel about where this is going.

Re: Major 'Star Trek XI' Details Emerge

As someone who likes the idea of 'respecting canon' but who likes the idea of 'being able to see Star Trek on the big screen again' even more, I've been pretty calm about the extent to which this movie did or didn't alter 'canon'. I also was feeling quite confident about the movie after I saw the teaser - I still think it struck the perfect note.

The more I see and hear of the movie, however, the more concerned I am. Nothing to do with canon. Rewrite the damn canon if you need to - Galactica did it and it paid off fine. Everything to do with the fact that, at the end of the day, I'm concerned that the people making this film just don't have the mental fortitude to make a real 'Trek' film.

They seem to have paid lipservice to the ideas behind Trek and Roddenbery's vision and the characters and their relationships etc. But, somehow, I'm having visions of this abortion consisting of 'Speed Racer' and 'Transformers' with a little 'Top Gun' thrown in come May 09. Or maybe 'Nemesis meets TOS'.

In every scene I've heard described, I'm left with the impression that the movie makers are consciously pandering to the summer action crowd. In every image I've seen, things seem very ... it's hard to describe ... hyper-real? Almost satirical. As if, for all their promises to the contrary, they're going to (perhaps, ironically, without intentionally doing so) essentially make a 'Galaxy Quest'
