Getting over-sensitive about geeky details is funny. Lashing out at someone who's just trying to be nice in the process moves one into the "asshole" category, and I don't find such people particularly funny.

What's funny about the PA strip to me is Gabe's over reaction is just so, well, "geeky" maybe a "real" geek would be less vulgar and rude but it's humorous in the fantasy land of the strip and knowing Gabe.

Further, have you SEEN some of the posts here when people get uppity over details?

Eh, the guy from PA acting like an ass isn't really funny to me. Of course, I also have no idea what he was talking about. In general, fanboys are funny, but not crazy sad fanboys. The FFN one is pretty funny.

I realize it's Penny Arcade, one of those things that everyone says is funny but never actually seems to be when I look at it. So my opinion in this may be a bit biased....

I feel the same way about it. Full Frontal Nerdity seems to be generally good humored and respectful, but there's something unfriendly in the atmosphere of Penny Arcade, like it's laughing at the characters rather than laughing with them.

I don't necessarily mind laughing at characters. Red vs Blue features that kind of humor very well. But you have to on some level like them at least.

I will say that PA's main two characters have few redeeming values but they're also less "characters" and more of a "comedy sketch duo."

Because it's not like PA has any story arcs or story lines or anything like that like other strips do. It's a sketch variety gaming show with a lot of foul language.
