Star Wars films ranked

Please don't kill me for posting this for I'm sure it has been posted before.

What are your SW films ranked favorite to least favorite?

Here are mine -
1. ESB - Hoth, bounty hunters, and the biggest twist up until that time in movies
2. ANH- the original with Mos Eisley, the Death Star, and final aerial battle.
3. ROTJ - Jabba, battle on Endor, best Jedi battle b/t Vader, Emperor, and Luke
4. ROTS - story comes full circle.
5. TPM - this one is unfairly criticized for not meeting impossible expectations. Jar Jar is not THAT bad and I actually liked the politics and of course Darth Maul.
6. AOTC - I actually get bored during this one which is hard to do in the SW universe. I liked Coruscant night club and the Kamino battle. The love scene dialogue in this one is vomit inducing.

What are yours and why?

Here's my order:
ESB- Obviously the best
ROTS
ROTJ
NH
PM
AC- I still liked this one but it had to much Anakin/Padme crap and we all know Lucas SUCKS at writing romance.

1. Star Wars. The original and still my favourite, for not taking itself as seriously as the later films did. Pure adventure and fun.
2. The Empire Strikes Back. Some really good stuff, but I'm not a Yoda fan.
3. Return of the Jedi. I don't like this one anywhere near as much as the first two, but even with Ewoks it beats the prequel trilogy.
4/5. Attack of the Clones/Revenge of the Sith (tie, more or less). They really look great, don't they?
6. The Phantom Menace. Jake Lloyd. Jar-Jar. Epic fail.

The Empire Strikes Back - Best film ever. Duh.
Revenge of the Sith - "I have failed you, Anakin. I have failed you." Obi Wan's arc breaks my heart, he became my favourite character in the Saga, and Ewan McGregor rules.
A New Hope - It started it all.
Return of the Jedi - Beats AOTC only for; "You failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me." "So be it...Jedi." And of course the best space combat ever put to celluloid.
Attack of the Clones - Love it. Don't care what anyone says, the bad romantic dialogue was supposed to be bad romantic dialogue. Teenagers, especially sheltered teenagers with no experience of love, say stupid things. Ewan McGregor begins his reign of rule. The Clones attack and we realize the Republic becomes the Empire. Maybe I'm dumb, I had never thought of that before and Lucas actually surprised me.
The Phantom Menace - Last on the list, but still a great film. Does have bad moments, admittedly, with Jake Lloyd and poop jokes with Jar Jar, but overall Jar Jar is not as bad as people make him out to be. Liam Neeson rules before Ewan McGregor is given an opportunity to and I find the politics fascinating. When I was a kid, I actually wondered about these things. *shrugs*

you make good points. it was really hard for me to decide between RotS and ESB. Star Wars was the first one, I saw it when I was but a kid. for me, it's GOTTA be first.

1. The Empire Strikes Back-definitely the best drama and characters
2. A New Hope-fun, kind of fluffy
3. Revenge of the Sith-McDiarmid at his best
4. The Phantom Menace-Nostalgia for Jar-Jar and his sort of comic relief, Qui-Gon was a good character
5. Attack of the Clones-Some action scenes felt forced
6. Return of the Jedi-Ewoks hurt too much, as did Luke's attempt to turn back Vader and the forced pacifist ideas

ESB - How can you not love this movie? And that ending... Whew! (10/10)
ANH - Special place in my heart for this. It is a wonderful movie. (9/10)
ROTJ - Yeah, the Ewoks are cheesy but the three battles at the end rock. (7/10)
ROTS - Best of the prequels, and very close to Jedi, but its not good enough. (6/10)
AOTC - The Anakin/Padme stuff sucks, but the third act of the movie actually feels like Star Wars. (4/10)
TPM - Jar Jar... young Anakin ... yuck! The only thing that redeems this flick is Qui-Gon. (2/10)

I don't entirely get the hate for The Phantom Menace. Back then it seemed like a pretty decent start to the new trilogy, even if it didn't resemble the old one much. It was only with the later films that it became apparent that the PT would be a disappointment overall.

^I don't hate it, I just think it's the weakest of the six films.

I will say one thing in its favour - at no point during the film was I as bored as shortly after the speeder chase in RotJ when they're all just wandering around the woods running in to Ewoks. That's my least favourite segment in the entire six films.

I think it was also because Lucas focused more on special effects and -- well kiddie stuff. It is nice to get the kids involved but man: Jar-Jar, young Anakin (especially blowing up the CIS ship), the robotic droids being comedy fodder...

It was decent but the decent parts of it were shoved under the table.
