fall movies

This years' Oscar contenders must be in here somewhere...?

Sorry for the annoying animation.

Which ones are you going to see?

My picks:

Burn After Reading
Blindness
Changeling
The Road
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Maybe:

Miracle at St. Anna
Choke
City of Ember
The Soloist
Defiance
The Spirit

Re: fall movies

No Quantum of Solace? That's the one I'm looking forward to, and then if there is a real big buzz for a film or it looks like oscar worthy (I think one of the best Pictures have already come out with The Dark Knight but anyway) than I'll go see it. Not really up to date on what's coming, but that's pretty much par for the course with me.

Quantum of Solace is the only one I really want to see. The Day the Earth Stood Still might be interesting, if they don't change the story too much...

Miracle at St. Anna looks interesting. Spike Lee may shout his mouth off towards anything (white) that moves, but regardless of that, his films are always worth watching (if not always very good). Still, the trailer looks promising.

The Road should be interesting, too.

But, overall, it doesn't look to be as strong an Oscar Year as 2007.

Never been into James Bond. Probably due to being female.

EW is too lowbrow to highlight the real Oscar contenders? The ones on that list sure don't look like them...maybe a couple...

Well, what are the real Oscar contenders then? I haven't been hearing much about movies I'd put in contention yet. It is only August, but still...

Re: fall movies

My top pics for the fall/winter movie season. Of course, things always change the closer to release dates occur.

1. Body of Lies - I liked the trailer for this movie and the fact that Crowe and Scott are working together again (I even liked A Good Year).
2. Quantum of Solace - well, duh.
3. Frost/Nixon - I am interested to see how Ron Howard does with the material.
4. How To Lose Friends and Alienate People - This is for the Simon Pegg factor.
5. Zack and Miri Make A Porno - I need a good laugh and Kevin Smith has rarely let me down.
6. The Spirit - The trailer was interesting.
7. The Punisher: War Zone - I do not have very high hopes for this third attempt at the franchise but will give it another try.
8. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - The first was funny but not one of Dreamworks best so I hope that this one improves the first one but I expect more of the same.
9. Revolutionary Road - I have not yet been disappointed by Sam Mendes.
10. The Day The Earth Stood Still - Was not interested until I saw the trailer. Might make it.

Re: fall movies

September:

Blindness - Fernando Mireilles (City of God, The Constant Gardener) is 2 for 2 with me so far, so I'm definitely going to see this.

October:

Appaloosa - I've enjoyed all the westerns that have been produced lately. I found a genre I didn't know I liked.
Max Payne - love the video game
Changeling - big Clint Eastwood fan. Looks promising

November:

Quantum of Solace - can't wait

December:

The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Spirit
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Defiance
The Reader

The studios are obviously holding out on me until December.

That doesn't stop every other female on this board drooling over Daniel Craig.

Re: fall movies

I think a dark horse for Oscar is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button depending on the acting but it has a lot going for it. Nothing really catches my eye either. Another movie that might be a surprise is Righteous Kill. Pacino and De Niro will bring in a crowd.

I might go see Role Models but I have to see the reviews. Adam Sandler also has a new movie coming out that might be good.

Quantum of Solace and maybe The Day the Earth Stood Still. The rest can wait until they're out on Blu-Ray/DVD.

Well I'm looking forward to Saw V myself (Oct 25)
