Kevin Smith has been guilty of so little FAIL in his filmmaking career that I'll take his opinion before I will most other directors' and producers'. This is very encouraging. Only Spielberg and a couple of others have more stroke and pull in my eyes.

I'm still kicking myself for watching Batman Begins all the way through, waiting for something good. Instead, what I perceived was one insult to the audience after another right to the end.

If someone who has seen J.J.'s Trek likens it to The Dark Knight, which I have no intention of seeing, to me that's a bad sign, save for the idea that the movie, whether I like it or not, may pave the way for another Trek series. Even then, I would want a new series to be set in the 24th or 25th century.

For me, Smith's career has been nothing but FAIL, though Chasing Amy had its moments. But That does not invalidate his views as a critic and a fanboy.

The Dark Knight was AWESOME!!!

It was the most intense movie I'd ever seen! Great story, great dialogue, great performences by all!

Heath Ledger as The Joker was SUPERB!

Well, I know there are those that disagree, and that's fine. I thought the TDK was not only the best comic book movie I've seen, It was the best movie I've seen in two years. I hope ST is in that league from a story and acting standpoint.

I'm hopeful, but I want May to be here NOW.

It may have been based on a comic book hero but the Batman version in TDK was nothing like the Batman in the comics.
First and foremost the suit for Batman in TDK is totally armor and Batman in the comics never had armor, he used stealth, surprise and fear.

So what is so interesting about this is that fans and movie goers allowed that to not be a big deal and made TDK the movie this years block buster. I hope the new Trek movie is good enough that fans and movie goers will do the same for it as well.

What would really be disappointing is if Joel Schumacher saw Star Trek and said it was almost as good as Batman and Robin.

Yeah. Right. If he ever DID say that he was doing it tongue-in-cheek and just stroking his friend George Lucas' ego.

That, or he meant best CGI visual effects he'd ever seen in a movie.
