Yea! Mad Men!! I agree with Donald Draper; the show really rivets my attention. I think John Hamm and Michael C. Hall split the best actor vote, allowing Cranston to sneak in for it. I didn't expect Slattery to win. I'm more thrilled that the writing won. It's truly deserving.

Damnit! Hugh Laurie robbed AGAIN!

But at least "House's Head" won.

And of course, John Adams excelled, although I thought Stephen Dillane would win Outstanding Supporting Actor. It's a tough call because Dillane, Morse, and Wilkinson were all excellent.

I'm also very happy that Glenn Close and Zeljko Ivanek won for Damages. Both of those wins very well desreved.

But I'm still pissed about Hugh Laurie being shafted yet again.

I gotta say I'm not particularly happy with the winners. I am really glad Željko Ivanek won (he's from Slovenia) and it's always cool when Piven wins something.

EDIT: Oh and it's great that House's Head won. I would have been seriously pissed if it hadn't.

WTF once again Hugh Laurie is snubbed after 4 years he should of won it at least once. Jericho may of been a cancelled show but season 2 was hailed by TV Critics and the show should of at least been given EMMY Nods...

I've said it for years, The Emmy only get it half right at best.

Which means they have a better record than the Oscars.

Yeah, that pissed me off enough that I returned to doing homework. But Mayor Royce won something for In Treatment!

If the Emmys had any credibility, "The Wire" would have dominated the awards, but they didn't even win their single nomination. "Mad Men" is a good show, but compared to "The Wire" it's a lightweight. No wonder I haven't watched an award show in a dozen years.

Please, Mark. When was the last time a twice cancelled show got an Emmy nod, much less an actual Emmy? And don't people have to have watched the show or something?

Still basking in Mad Men's win last night. Next year will be all about Jon Hamm, based on how S2 is shaping up...

With Mad Men being on cable then my guess is Jericho probably had more viewers so if Jericho was on cable then am sure it would be here still. Quality has no connection with ratings and Jericho season 2 was just pure TV gold and fueled the arugments that shorter seasons are better.

Re: 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Discussion

Er, Jericho aired both seasons on CBS-not cable. Repeats may be on the Sci Fi Channel (cable).

And I'm not understanding a lot of what you wrote. Are you saying Jericho has more viewers than Mad Men (cable)? I agree quality does not equal ratings, but Jericho is also the latest in a LONG line of shows to add to the shorter season argument. Anything on HBO, the last three seasons of Queer as Folk, FX dramas...all predate Jericho S2, not to mention British shows which usually (IIRC) have 13 episode runs.

Damn, I wanted Hall and Emerson to win, but the guys who beat them were also pretty damn great.

PS, wasn't there also a Best Guest Actor category? Who won there?
