Head Baltar "Poem" in "Downloaded"

Head Baltar:

"Life is short, but the next one's not.
Let your heart adrift, and your soul will get caught.
Believe the lies, ignore the truth.
Listen to me, I will show you the proof.
Speak from your heart: say the things you know to be true.
I have never loved anyone more in my life than I love you now."

I love these verses, and Callis delivers them perfectly, I think.

What I was wondering is if these are based on an existing poem or if it's all original.

Hmm I don't remember the first 4 lines of that... I only remember him saying the last 2 and I didn't realise it was meant to be a poem

I think it sounds like a poem, anyway. I'm not sure if it was meant to be one or if it's based on existing poetry.
