IMDB Offers Launches Free 'Star Trek' Viewing

U.S. fans of Star Trek can see some episodes of the classic series for free on their computers courtesy of the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.)

As reported by Yahoo! News, IMDB is beginning to offer selected episodes of various shows, including the original series of Star Trek. The service is currently limited to U.S. viewers due to licensing issues.

Thus far, only a limited amount of episodes are available, but it is expected that more will be added. "Our goal is to show our users every movie and TV show on the Internet for free on," said an IMDB spokesperson. Currently, two Star Trek original series episodes are offered; The City on the Edge of Forever and Amok Time.

In addition to Star Trek, six thousand other feature films and television shows are currently available. Some of the shows available in addition to Star Trek are: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Jericho, Lost in Space and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Clever. Amazon is doing video on demand, Amazon is iMDB's owner. IMDb shows some old crap for free, and then flaunts video on demand at Amazon.

I still wish Babylon 5 got some of this treatment. I can't afford to get the DVDs and It's not on anywhere.

Which would be great... if the ENTIRE series weren't already available to watch on CBS's own website.
