Twilight - Robert Pattinson BWA?

So, apparently there was a mini-riot today in San Francisco when hundreds of screaming girls (well, I didn't see any guys in line on the news report) got out of hand, waiting to catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson from Twilight. Some got squashed and the appearance almost got cancelled.

So what's the big deal? He looks like 62-year-old actress Charlotte Rampling.

He was in Harry Potter and Twilight. To me, that sounds like fangirl crack.

It's a wonder that the BART is still running.

I don't even try to fathom things like this and High School Musical, the same way I don't expect teenage girls to appreciate The Three Stooges and Monty Python.

Man I was JUST going to post a thread on this! Okay, so I went over to CHUD.com and come upon this nice and shiny article.

You'd think the old school fans of Star Trek are fuming at the aesthetics of the new movie? Apparently, fandomina hath no fury like pissed off Robert Pattinson fans. The comments section is fucking hilarious!

Not all Twilight fans are obsessed with it. As one of the few guys who has read and really enjoyed Twilight, I certainly am not obsessed. The first novel is excellent and the rest are good escapism.

While it's nice that you've enjoyed Twilight, I'm not enjoying it. I'm about a quarter of the way through the first book and finding it very poorly-written. I'd rate it about sixth-grade writing. Not writing for sixth-graders, but written by one.

All the main character does is sit around and whine. And whine. And whine some more. The parents are barely even cameos, and yet this homely whiner attracts the attentions of all the guys in the school? Right. Ok then.

And to get even that much, you have to wade through the author's atrocious writing. I don't know what she thought she was doing when she submitted this to a publisher, but my god, it's crap!

So, I didn't realize the trailer (when working at a movie theater) of this horrible vampire flick movie was Twilight. And then I realized it was. Oi!

Re: Twilight - Robert Pattinson BWA?

My sister is into this stuff, she says though that the movie from the previews doesn't look like it will be all that great, definitely not even close to the book in her opinion. I've never read the books, but we'll go see the movie, she is curious at any rate what it will really be like. The more and more previews she sees of the movie the less and less enthused she is to see it apparently.

Not an acronym, but to be said aloud. A comical and extreme variant of "What?!?!"

Well, the writer has never actually read any fantasy/horror stuff, which I guess explains why the entire thing is so cliche. And she's a devout Mormon or something, so the books are a little strange as far as justifying certain things so they are 'technically moral'. Like making sure the 16 year old girl marrys the undead bloodsucker before having sex with him.

How's that for sanctity of marriage. Undead demon-spawn marriages are a-ok in God's eyes!

btw, I haven't read the book myself, this is based on friends ranting. Sounds pretty par for the course though. Inheritence Triolgy, anyone?
