Movies you've bought over and over and over again.

Whether it be upgrading formats or biting on all those DVD special edition re-releases, what are some of your most-bought titles?

For me off hand:

The Rock -- VHS, DVD, Criterion, Blu-Ray
Apollo 13 -- VHS, DVD, Anniversary Edition, HD-DVD
Backdraft -- VHS, DVD, Anniversary Edition, HD-DVD
Top Gun -- DVD, Collector's Edition, HD-DVD (which was still unopened so I gave it away as a gift), Blu-Ray
Remember the Titans -- DVD, Director's Cut (but I never opened it and was able to trade it at a store), Blu-Ray
Crimson Tide -- DVD, Extended Cut, Blu-Ray
The Usual Suspects -- VHS, DVD, Special Edition
Star Trek: First Contact -- VHS, DVD, Collector's Edition
Seven -- VHS, DVD, Platinum Series
Armageddon -- VHS, DVD, Criterion
Interview with the Vampire -- DVD, Special Edition, plan to get on Blu-Ray

Re: Movies you've bought over and over and over again.

Memento - The original R1 bare bones release, the better R2 release and then later a R1 special edition. I would buy a Blu-Ray release too.

Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis were all replaced with the 2-disc collector's editions. In addition, I had the first eight Star Trek films on VHS before I bought the DVDs.

The original Star Wars Trilogy. I had all three on mismatched VHS releases, then the final VHS release before the Special Editions came out, then I bought the Special Editions on VHS. I now have them on DVD.

The Matrix Trilogy - I had them on individual discs, including the "killer app" original release version of The Matrix before I replaced them with the Ultimate boxed set. I am considering the upcoming Blu-Ray release as well.

I have Independence Day on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray. I also have Robocop on VHS and DVD.

Strictly speaking, they are all out done by Blade Runner. I have the 1992 Director's Cut on DVD and the Blu-Ray five disc set containing the Final Cut, the 1992 cut, the original US and European releases and the workprint, making six copies of the film!

Like in the double dipping on games thread, I haven't bought many movies more than once.

Star Trek: First Contact - VHS and DVD.
Star Trek: TMP - VHS and DVD.
Star Trek: TWOK - VHS, DVD, and Director's Edition
Serenity - First release, and Collector's Edition.

That's about it for me.

I lost my original copy of Serenity so now I have the CE
I also mistakenly bought the fullscreen version of The Fountain so I had to buy it again widescreen . . . seriously the art direction in that movie can't be fully appreciated in 4:3
LOTR I had the original releases, then got the EE sets for all three

I guess I did that with A.I., but I got the WS version used.

Also, I bought the first release of The Two Towers, and later broke down and got the collectors edition set.

The original Star Wars trilogy is the only movie I've purchased more than twice: remastered VHS, fullscreen SE VHS, widescreen SE VHS, 4-disc DVD set, and limited edition 2-disc DVDs.

Pretty much if I had it on VHS I bought it on DVD. I could probably start my own video store.

I have bought a couple of DVD's over because of new features, but it's rare that I do that.

There are a few movies that I've bought twice:
- Serenity (DVD & DVD SE)
- Top Gun (DVD & DVD SE)
- First Contact (DVD & DVD SE)
- Blade Runner (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Gattaca (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Underworld (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Underworld: Evolution (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Spider-Man 1 & 2 (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Batman Begins (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Casino Royale (DVD & Blu-ray)
- The Rock (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Face/Off (DVD & Blu-ray)
- King Arthur (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Kingdom Of Heaven (DVD & Blu-ray)
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (DVD & Blu-ray)

I also have Transformers pre-ordered on Blu-ray (I already own the DVD). I also plan to double dip on the Lord of the Rings trilogy (on Blu-ray) and maybe a couple of other things.

Movies that I will definitely buy a third time are Serenity and Top Gun. Of course I'll pick both of them up on Blu-ray.

I've double dipped too often but OT STAR WARS is the king: original VHS releases (at about $80 a piece), widescreen VHS, Definitive Edition Laser Disk, special edition widescreen VHS, Special Edition Laser Disk, 4 disk first DVD release, and the 6 disk 2nd DVD release.
