Remake This!

Okay, so in the vein of nuBSG and nuWHO, what older sci-fi show (that may or may not have been so popular) do you think deserves to have a new chance at TV glory.

I'd say TimeTRAX.

Captain Darien Lambert, SELMA, Dr. Mo Sombii

The premise was solid for a series, but the budget was low and most of the writing was never there. Update the effects, FIRMLY establish the basis of "Parallel Worlds" and stick to it, Add significant new twists and turns (Like plots in both time periods. Past & Future or multiple Retrival agents) and you've got a pretty nifty new Sci-Fi Drama for the Fall.

I'd love to see a SELMA depicted with the effects available today.

Admittedly, the writting would make or break it, but that's like with just about anything worth watching these days.

So what do you think? Viable?

Better ideas?

I'd say "The Night Stalker," but we all know how that turned out . . . .

Maybe "The Questor Tapes"?

A rebooted Earth: Final Conflict is a dream of mine. All it would need is a lot of refinement and a more cohesive vision/plan, the potential for something incredible was there.

And of course, not going the route of that last season.

More like a continutation. Or a resurrection.

The notion of the reboot, is that they take something popular with a huge nostalgia value, and then make it "hard".

Time Traks and earth final conflict although enjoyable were for the most part overlooked faliures.

The BBC is right now last I heard full steam ahead working on an updated definition of Blake's Seven... But apart from their hair cuts, i have no idea how you could make a show darker and harder than Blakes Seven.

Though Buck Rogers is next on the score card for a US property that desperately needs to be exploited.

My mistake. The financial model underpinning a reboot requires a degree of existing celebrity?

Foremost, I don't believe this thread was intended to be viewed from the executive/commercial outlook, but rather a creative or entertainment based one.

I thought that was pretty obvious.

I would love to see seaQuest DSV given another go, but as [b]Guy[/ib] pointed out, the current them is usually to go darker, which gave us seaQuest 2032.

If they could remake the series and stick to the more sci-fi angle of Season 1, I think the series could work. Hell, the show even had an environmental message, which is all the rage these days.

Instead of having Dr. Ballard, they could have Al Gore give those marine trivia bits during the credits!

This isnt a tv show, but I would love to see a remake of Rollerball, not the crappy one that came out a few years ago, but the 1970's one with James Caan. I rewatched it the other day and it is still great, but somewhat dated.

Movie-wise, I'd like to see a new Weird Science... there's a lot to like in the original, but the guys get their girlfriends too easily. I think it'd be neat to see Lisa really coach them on posture, mind-set, etc. And she should definitely sleep with them this time. :P

Haven't seen it... does she? Regardless, a movie would be cool. I don't really want to get into a detailed mythology, as I gather the show developed.
