Tooms was one of the ones that got me on edge...Theef was one that was scary too
That's right, Theef was a great one.

And I agree that Home wasn't scary so much as disturbing. Good episode, though.

The snake one. I can't recall the name ("Signs and Numbers" maybe). Not so much that it was scary, per say. But damn, I have an irrational fear of snakes.

I think it was called Fire? It gave me the creeps for ages, but I was sufficiently hooked to keep watching week after week anyways!

Ice is pretty scary. And Mulder and Scully come dangerously close to the end in Darkness Falls. Both of those are from season one, IIRC.

I recently saw Blood again. That was pretty good. Machines ordering people to kill.

Ones that generally get overlooked are some of the later shows. I recently rewatched Season 8 and it has some of the darkest episodes. Roadrunners, for example. Then take the disturbing dream imagery from Via Negativa. Also, Orison from Season 7 is a much better sequel to Irresistible than I remembered: Scary as hell - "Glory, amen!"

'Unruhe' - the episode where the guy was kidnapping women and giving them lobotomies and the clues were these really creepy developed photos.

Im in the process of working through every episode and am currently up to Season 3 "Quagmire". For whatever reason, that episode really unnerves me. Its not particularly scary..its just creepy...and awww to Scully's dog...
