Re: Life on Mars: " The Simple Secret of the Note in Us All" 2/25

I thought that the episode was excellent..very enjoyable to watch. There were a few funny moments during this episode. I enjoyed the interaction about the laptop bag, and then I thought it was funny with Ray trying to be a good cop during the questioning of the restaurant owner (at least he tried!). At the end of this episode, Eve was painting rain..does this mean that she inspires the other girl in 2008? Plus that exhibit that they had was a bit creepy for my taste.

The music was okay this week, not as superb as episodes past, but it worked for this episode. I do have a bone to pick about the date..Chris said while recording that it was October 4, 1973..well one of the episodes before this one had snow on the ground. Does that mean in their world that it snowed in September? I know that in reality that some of the episodes have been filmed in early December hence the snow, but they could've some how parallel the two dates. I was thinking that instead of early October, it should've been early or Mid November'73. Then I would've had accepted the snow in the previous episode. Other than that, the show is still great and entertaining.

How many more episodes are left? And when do we find out if it's lucky enough to be picked up for a second season?

I recognized the opening scene (in the subway station) right away. They filmed it at the MTA Transit Museum in Brooklyn. I've been there a hundred times. I have even seen the same vintage subway car they used.

Above average and I loved the "laptop" interaction. It pisses me off the way they treat Annie, but alas that was the era. Love this show and hope it gets renewed. It brings back so many memories even though I was 4 in 1973.

^ I hope Annie gets her detective's badge by the end of the season. She deserves it.

Re: Life on Mars: " The Simple Secret of the Note in Us All" 2/25

"Life on Mars," offbeat time-travel cop drama, is in the can. David E. Kelley and Tommy Schlamme have bowed out of that project, they're looking to move this from 20th Century Fox TV to ABC Studios and retool it under prospective showrunners Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg. There's been a lot of chatter in the biz that "Life on Mars" shuffle granted a reprieve to Kelley's "Boston Legal" for another season. (Biz watchers with long memories will recall that two years ago, the same thing happened when ABC was hot for Kelley's "Mars.") But I'm hearing that "Boston Legal's" fate also has a lot to do with Kelley and how involved he intends to be going forward, among other factors.

Was I hit by a car and transported back to 2008?

One other question. What the hell does the episode title mean?

In the simplest terms, it was the David Bowie song on Sam's iPod/8track when he was hit by the car.

It was like how the pilot episode was called "Out here in the fields," which is the first line from Baba O'Reilly.

"Pure and Easy"
by The Who

There once was a note, pure and easy,
There once was a note, pure and easy,
Playing so free, like a breath rippling by.
Playing so free, like a breath rippling by.
The note is eternal, I hear it, it sees me,
The note is eternal, I hear it, it sees me,
Forever we blend it, forever we die.
Forever we blend it, forever we die.

I listened and I heard music in a word,
I listened and I heard music in a word,
And words when you played your guitar,
And words when you played your guitar,
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering,
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering,
And a child flew past me riding in a star.
And a child flew past me riding in a star.

As people assemble,
As people assemble,
Civilization is trying to find a new way to die,

But killing is really merely scene changer,

All men are bored with other mens lies.

Watch all the chords of life lose their joy,
Watch all the chords of life lose their joy,
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness,

The note that began all can also destroy.

Wow. If you're going to plagiarize Variety, perhaps you should both pick something more recent than May of last year and something, I dunno, relevant to the thread.

Thanks for playing.

Probably the weakest episode yet. Sam acts like an idiot the whole episode and Fred Thomson was useless and distracting

This was another adaptation of a British episode though. The ending was essentially the same, although in the British series we get a hint that his actions in the past somehow influenced the "present".
