Songs the SHAT should do

We all know that, in addition to being a masterful thespian, the mighty Bill Shatner is also, shall we say, a very unique musical performer.

I'm hoping he does some more musical work before riding off into the sunset.
Taking into account his comedic-ironic beatnik style, what songs do you think the Shat should do?

I submit to you a perfect example, both in content, and in pacing: Strange Days by The Doors.

"Strange hours....fill strange rooms.
Voices...signal their tired end.
The hostess... is grinning!
Her guests...sleep from sinning!
Hear ME talk of SIN, and you KNOW....THIS IS IT!!!!"

Re: Songs the SHAT should do

There is no song - I repeat, no song - that cannot be made into something trancendentally wonderful by The Shat taking it on.

I once read a review of The Transformed Man that finished with "0/10 or 10/10 - depending on your point of view."

Of course, it gets a 10 from me.

He could cover Radiohead and get away with it:

"Shell smashed, juices.... flowing
Wings twitch, legs.... are.... going
Don't.... get sentimental
It.... always ends up.... drivel"

I think he could work the Shatcraft on "Comfortably Numb" by the Floyd. I could dig on that.

Perhaps Piano Man, by Billy Joel. I'd be hilarious to see what he could do to a Brittany spears album. That stuff's pretty bad as is, so there's not much he could do to make it worse.

William Shatner should do a remake of "The Jingle Cats A Meowy Christmas". He would then get attacked by angry tabby cats for copyright infringement.

Pink Floyd has a lot of tributes out for "Dark Side of the Moon". Shatner should get into the act with "Brain Damage".

Piano Man
is a good one, though maybe too similar to Rocket Man, I can definitely hear it Shatnerized.
Britney pop-drivel is too lightweight for the Shat. There has to be some lyrical sophistication.

A more modern tune I can hear Shatnerized is Pearl Jam, Black, from their first album. Just imagine him doing these lines:

And all I taught her was....everything
I know she....gave me....all that she wore
And now my...bitter hands...are on broken glass,
Of what was everything?
All the pictures have
All been washed in black,
Tattooed everything.

Absolutely.

I always wanted to hear him do the Tom Jones...um...classic, "It's Not Unusual."
