Nothing "emo" looking about it - a criticism which is, itself, pretty much over. Might as well shout "goth!" at the Bana image.

When I think of cheese I think of Buck Rogers, Lost in Space or the original Battlestar Galactica. TOS could be campy at times, but for it's era it was the Serious Business alternative with (as the other guy said) wit and charm. I don't expect everyone to be a fan or even like it, but if you "couldn't watch it", I mean actually be unable to sit down for 45 minutes and watch a whole episode, I can only presume a tiny bit of snobbishness. Then again this is Eric Bana, a wooden actor who probably doesn't know what the fuck he's on about anyway.
Actually it's Clifton Collins Jr. quoted there.

Though I'm pretty sure Eric Bana wouldn't know what the fuck he's on about, either.

Collins: "I can't tell you too much, but me and Eric are some real bad dudes. If you think you've seen me play some bad dudes on this planet, wait 'til you see me off this planet, raisin' up in outer space."

I find that a corny statement. WE BAD ROMULAWNS! WE BE RAISIN' IT, YO!

Eh, fuck him. That pic looks like Fred Durst with a tribal tattoo on his forehead, anyway. Spock looks alright.

Then again, should I really expect anything other than retarded nonsense from this film, if the guys who wrote Transformers are doing it?
Oh, great.

I guess the missing ear-tip is their attempt at keeping with TOS continuity? Can't know that the Romulans are long lost Vulcan cousins or whatever?
So..they purposely tear off the points of the ears?

Sounds like the TOS series is the only Trek Collins has watched, so he's clueless about the movies or the other series. Of course, that won't stop some of the eternally negative doomsday naysayers from touting their self-fulfilling prophecy about this movie and using Collins' quote as proof.

Maybe it's some kind of rite-of-passage thing, you know, tear off part of your ear to prove you're a real bad-ass Romulan.

Oh well, I'm sure that many a guest actor in various "favorite" episodes of all the series hated or knew nothing about star trek. Hell, some of the cast members, even.

Bender: Uh, can people who hate Star Trek leave?
Walter Koenig: Good question!

The "cheese" has been gone from Star Trek for many decades now. But I guess it's no big deal if some second-banana actor hasn't kept up with things. He's just there to wear a wig and read some lines. I'm more concerned when Abrams acts like he's the guy who invented Cheese-Free Star Trek.

Hmm, I checked out the guy in IMDB. He played the serial killer in the body-swap episode of Fear Itself. He was pretty good (and doing any sort of body-swap performance is good training for Star Trek.)
