What if the Dax symbiont already qualified as a captain, or at least a commander, in a previous host? Surely the fact that Ezri can tap into so much accumulated knowledge gives her a boost in her abilities and experience?
That's what I'm thinking. In that capacity, Ezri probably has more experience than some admirals. Transferring from sciences to command probably sent her on the fast track...

What, another re-telling of the Klingons' destruction of the Guardian?
Sheesh. No one's forcing you to read it. I can't wait to see what David has up his sleeve.
Sorry if that seemed a little harsh. Despite usually liking DRG3's stuff, I think the Crucible trilogy is pretty much the definition of forcing one good idea to fit an entire trilogy. The latter two weren't up to his usual standards, despite a scattering of good ideas. It would have been wiser to write McCoy as a standalone, and then sit on the other two stories until they had more time to mature.

My perceptions may be tinted by the fact that I've always liked what I refer to as the "Vulcan's Heart timeline" for Spock.

Ha, I knew it! I even have those two (in mass-market).

And yet, when the schedule changed, and "Spock" and "Kirk" were delayed a few months, people screamed!

Well, coming off of the brilliance that was McCoy, who could blame them?

But enough on that, I'll leave it be.

Re: Shore Leave

Can someone post pics of Shore Leave?

As for the books, A very good lineup indeed and glad to see we are getting 2 Vanguard novels so soon.

Who are the women pictured on the Destiny covers? (the women saluting in book 0ne)

Why is the ENT novel listed as a trade? Is this a misprint or is there some reasoning behind it?

The cover to Singular Destiny isn't exactly awe inspiring. Not exactly sure what it is supposed to reflect..

The cover to the Titan Novel is interesting to say the least. Looks like some sort of alien version of a mermaid. Hmmm....

The Destiny covers are cool especially the Picard one.

The 7 Deadly Sins anthology is a surprise but should prove interesting.

Why is there no cover for Destiny: Book 3?

Will we also see an omnibus for the TNG ebooks that were done sometime down the line?

Surprised that there is no novilization for Trek 11 on here.

I am sorry if some of these were answered already but seeing as I am out of the country and not on my computer as frequently as I usually am, I apologize and just ask for the link to whatever has been answered.

PS. I was actually attempting to show up this year.. Oh well..

And another thing, are there any synopsis for any of these books?

dunno

because it's a trade. no. yes.

that's the Titan's Pacifican navigator, who's from a seal-like species.

because they're not ready to show it yet.

possibly. i certainly hope so.

well, it may be added.

at the moment, no. or at least not accurate ones.

Captain Erika Hernandez, USS Columbia NX02. And she's not saluting, just shielding her eyes against the sunlight.

^So did someone officially confirm it is her? Oh and you might put that in spoiler code, because that could be considered a pretty big spoiler there.

JD, it's a woman in an ENT-era command uniform. Who else is it gonna be. And the blurbs have already stated Hernandez to the "long-thought-dead-captain."

That's what I'm thinking. In that capacity, Ezri probably has more experience than some admirals. Transferring from sciences to command probably sent her on the fast track...
Plus, she does have several missions worth of command experience, thanks to the times Jadzia commanded Defiant during the DW.

So it is Aili then? That was my first thought, but I wasn't sure.

[Nitpick] Ezri was a counselor, so she was in medical, not sciences. [/Nitpick]

There's a reason both medical and sciences wear blue. Like security and engineering wearing gold.

Not really a nitpick, though, is it? Ezri, despite being a counselor, wore a science blue uniform. And, given that medicine is a science, counselling (medicine of the mind, so to speak) could also be deemed a science.
