Man, I wish I had the money to travel across to the States. Looking at the schedule makes me sad, as I see all the magnificent panels I would want to attend, were I there...

Re: Shore Leave

Unfortunately, I will not be at Shore Leave this year...

I hope all of you who are going have a good time (and that I manage to get that copy of The Quality of Leadership, like I planned ), and I look forward to hearing all of the news to come out of the con.

Plus I'm scheduled for four consecutive panels on Saturday (from 11 to 3) and one on Sunday.

Helpful hint: make sure you eat first!
I'm planning on getting a sandwich and maybe having half before the panels and the other half between panels.

I'm also hoping to sign lots of copies of my new "4400" novel. (Now on sale--hint, hint!) And maybe even a few copies of "Death Defying Acts," my new novel about Harry Houdini. (Also now on sale--double hint.)

Shameless plugging? Sure. But how often do I have TWO new books coming out just in time for Shore Leave?
One day I will make it across the pond for this, but I'll just have to settle for buying the 4400 book. Is there any news yet on whether there will be more?

There will be at least four. Two by me, one by Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore, and one by Dave Mack. The first two take place before the end of the series while the next two will continue the saga beyond the series finale.

I'm even bringing my sister to her first ever convention. She's what I would call a very casual Trek fan (has gone to the movies, seen some eps, etc.). She's looking forward to seeing us in our native habitat....

Great! I hadn't heard anything about the latter two. Good to know the books are continuing the series.

Sweet, any idea when we can expect to see the two post finale books?

I know Dayton and Kevin's book is due soon; Greg just got the green light for his second book; and I'm drafting my story proposal now. I'll be writing my first original novel until end of September. I'll start writing my 4400 book in October, and I plan to finish it by end of December. With any luck, my book — the last of the four — will be out by Shore Leave next year, along with my original novel.

OK, let's not scare her off before she even gets there!

(Fortunately, she doesn't frequent these boards, so she can't see how depraved you all are... until it's too late!)
