It's just that, well... It's getting a little over hyped and I suspect that some people will get let down short of this movie being the Second Comming. None the less I'll be there to watch it, trying to score advanced screening tickets to it too.

Re: The Dark Knight - Grading & Discussion
Nice. What's this mean?; "Hasn't T'Baio been pulling a MattJC (Star Trek), stj (Battlestar Galatica), Stewey (Enterprise) when it comes to The Dark Knight?" I admit...I voted in the poll the exact opposite what I suspect most people would just for the hell of it. But...I do that in all the polls I vote in. It's just that no one noticed until now.

Re: The Dark Knight - Grading & Discussion
With all the hype and considering how great Batman Begins was, my expectations were extremely high, so did the Dark Knight meet them? Well, it certainly took those expectations, whacked them with a shovel, left them for dead and soared straight by them. The film was utterly amazing. One might dare call it brilliant, superb, downright stunning. For a 2 hours + movie it certainly did not feel like it with the plot moving at breakneck speed. So much happened that it will undoubtably require repeat viewings to let the awesomness be completely absorbed. That being said I had two minor gripes, that whilst did not detract from the awesomeness of the movie, they were noticeable: The absence of Wayne Manor/Batcave and the unusual absence of Alfred in the last 40 minutes of the film. They were jarring, but I didn't even notice them until I had left the cinema and a friend pointed them out. However, brilliant performances from the entire cast, some stunning action sequences, a score that made this movie uncomfortably tense and some inspired plot writing earns this movie a solid A+. I can write more, but need time to analyse it in further detail. As aforementioned a lot occurred and it does require more than one viewing to fully appreciate it.

Re: The Dark Knight - Grading & Discussion
If you looked away, you were likely to miss something crucial. Major characters moved from place to place very quickly and without much explanation. Think this thing was edited to pieces. Some stuff reported a while back was cut. The film doesn't really have time to dwell on much. The ending was great, but I felt like it had a few more points to make before it ended. A couple pieces of crucial information just didn't jive and left me scratching my head. But, this is a great movie. There's so much great stuff in it that the only way I can talk about it is by focusing on the faults. Hope this one get's a director's cut with the extra 30 minutes restored. But, I'm kind of doubting it will. My IMAX had the Watchmen trailer. But, they only turned on the projector for the last third of the trailer. arrrrg

Re: The Dark Knight - Grading & Discussion
![]() It is a long film. It feels like two films shown back-to-back. AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. this will be a quick, spoiler-free look at the film. firstly, I want you to know that I am a HUGE Batman fan, I own at least a dozen Batman trades, I have a framed copy of Detective Comics framed and hanging on my wall, I own many Batman DVDs (including BB and the animated series and movies), and I wore my Batman T-shirt to the movies (yes, I'm nerd...but so are you...) that being said, THIS IS THE BEST BATMAN FILM EVER MADE (animated or live action). In fact, THIS IS THE BEST SUPERHERO FILM EVER MADE. Superman who??? BB was a good attempt at a Batman film, TDK is a note-perfect Batman film - straight from the comic pages to the silver screen! We finally get to see the real Joker on screen. I believed in Harvey Dent (and had a tear in my eye for his fate). The IMAX experience was just that, an experience. YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FILM ON IMAX! I don't know how I will be able to watch it again on a normal sized cinema screen, or heaven forbid, a TV screen. The Joker was perfect. perfect. perfect. very minor spoiler - the rumours that we've heard about who the villian in the third film might not be true! Anyway, for those of you that have yet to see it, enjoy the film. let the gushing begin! PS - if you haven't guessed, i voted excellent

Re: The Dark Knight - Grading & Discussion
It's a terrific ensemble piece with a number of major characters which really helped it. Great performances straight down the cast. Anyway, I'm giving it four out of four on the air today. Will write more when time permits. --Ted
