Help from a 3D Artist Please...

Hi All,

I am in pre-production for a new animated Star Trek web series and am seeking some help from one of the many talented 3D artists here. Just a quick explanation...my series will be a 2D flash creation. However, I would love to have a Blender, Hexagon, or DAZ based model in which I could do some tracings of in Flash so that I may create a variety of angles for various scenes. I do not require a texture-mapped model...just a good representation of my design. Obviously, I am just a one-man operation producing a fanimation, so compensation would be in the form of a permanent credit on the series. I have a background in television and am hoping this venture will closely resemble a network quality production. Enclosed is my design. If there is anyone here kind enough...and willing enough to help me, please private message me or respond here. Thank you VERY much in advance. :-)

Re: Help from a 3D Artist Please...

I had a quick bash at this while bored at work, and soon ran into a few problems. The top view doesn't really match with any of the other views, both in terms of width of the saucer and placement of the nacelles and nacelle struts. The front view doesn't appear to show the central body swooping down to form the shuttlebay, it appears to show the underside of the nose sweeping upwards, yet still has the shuttlebay bump below it. Is the detail shown on the nose in the front view recessed, or are those dark grey parts meant to be the very end of the nose? They appear to carry on the line of the nose, making you think they are meant to taper down to that size.

There's a lot that doesn't quite match, so if you do get someone to do this you better be ready for a bit of artistic interpretation or a lot of emails. Turning 2D into 3D usually throws up problems like this, I just thought you should be made aware of them beforehand. It's a nice looking design though, very interesting take on the saucer/nacelle meme.
