An example that comes to mind are BYOB and Black Sunshine. In Rock Band for Black Sunshine they charted a part as just single sustained notes whereas in GH3 they put it as a crazy trill. Which one is 'more accurate'? It's hard to say... the guitarist isn't playing using two different frets in real life. I'm not sure what he's doing, whammy, vibrato(? is that even the right term, I'm not much of a musician), but he's doing more than just playing a note and sustaining it.

.
It's bending octave.

|E-----------------------
|B----------15----------
|G----------12------------
|D-----------------------
|A-----------------------
|E-----------------------

It's 5:30am, let's hope I'm explaining this right.

Those are the strings on a guitar, Top E is the highest string, bottom E is the Low note string on a guitar.

The numbers on the strings represent which fret to hold down.

In this chart (which is called Tablature) you're holding down the 12th fret on the G string with one finger and letting it ring (sustain) while holding down the 15th fret on the B string, but bending it to raise the pitch, so it's almost an octave, but not quite. Wiggle the 15th note a bit to play with the pitch.

All the time while strumming at whatever beat you want, letting those 2 notes ring out (more or less Legato)

Sometimes to change it up, instead of bending the B string, you could tap at all the notes in the bend while letting the G string ring out the entire time.

That takes more skill, either way is right, he's using delay, chorus and reverb effects to create his sound on that.

And that is your guitar lesson for tonight.
so, how would you personally chart that to a one string, five fret guitar where you can't bend the string?
Hold down 2 buttons next to eachother and let them sustain.

That's what we call boring. Also, neither game took that approach. I guess Rock Band is closest with their single fret sustain.

Looks great. I'm not keen on the lack of export to RB2, but playing a full on Beatles game should be an experience, so I'll deal with it. Might have to buy a mic stand for the voxtarring

Weezer “Undone – The Sweater Song”
Instant buy. My Name is Jonas was fun in GH3. Probably 3 sightread full combos but still worth it.

Blink is fun on the drums. And I totally agree on Weezer.

Re: The unofficial Rock Band thread.

Has there been any word on Lego Rock Band having some kind of export or import song feature?

Or is it like The Beatles, where they're following Activision's model of crappy segmentation?

Re: The unofficial Rock Band thread.

And "younger" music.

To be honest, I just want Song 2. I'm a sucker, but oh well.

I did get Dammit, but that's the only Blink 182 song I can stand. The Weezer stuff ended up being pretty fun. Pork and Beans + Undone were sightread FCs, but My Name is Jonas was pretty tricky and required some work. The more precise engine compared to GH3 made it a lot harder, and it took me a while to adjust even though I think the chart was pretty similar.

The Kiss pack was ok, but the live tracks are a little too 'AC/DC' in that the charts are kind of random and sloppy in places, and they stop in the middle of two of the songs for a couple of minutes for the drummer to go solo and let the crowd work into a frenzy about how awesome Kiss is. I guess it's cool if you're at the concert, but if you're in a plastic guitar game... not so much.

Should be pretty fun, though probably overpriced. If nothing else TIGRYT will help continue rebuilding the Guitar Hero 2 setlist in Rock Band.
Unconfirmed for the week of Sept. 20:

Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" album
I have Alive, Evenflow, and Jeremy... I even picked up the bonus 3 pack with Alive(Live), and a couple of other tricky guitar songs (Brother, State of Love and Distrust(?). That's probably all the Vedder I can handle!

Don't forget "The Final Countdown"

But yeah, I'm hoping for exportable, probably wait for it to come down in price like I currently am with Metallica, Smash Hits, probably GH5, and maybe Beatles. Otherwise it's too much money on fake plastic instrument games even for me!

The music, and several gameplay features are skewed to make the game more child and family friendly. I'm not too sure of the specifics, but building your 'rock power' can do more things in the Lego game than just up your score multiplier - you can use it to alter the landscape of the venues in humorous ways or some such.
