I put together a couple of quick-and-dirty animated shots:

Very cool!

I still don't agree about the nacelle caps, though. If you're trying to stay accurate to the model and Probert's photos show they were solid and probably hull colored, how do you reconcile that with your city-slicker, new-fangled winky-blinkies?

And what do you think about my idea that the reflective tape may have been intended to fake a light source?

Dennis, you rock. I have always wanted to see this ship in action and you did it. Thank you so very much, you made my day. I am really going to be looking foreward to the opening sequence.

Beautiful work, as always.

Both those Mike Minor images seem to have the nacelle caps solid colored with the very top quarter a different color, or opaque.

I like the nacelle cap effect!

Thanks, all.

The shots are rather literally quick-and-dirty...the hull "weathering" needs to be dialed back by about half.

Yeah, put me on the side in favor of your effect. I was never a fan of the original Phase II "painted" caps, as we saw in the WIP models. But, I very much like the way your effect provides a visual bridge to the TOS version, while updating the nacelles. I really like pretty much everything you've done with this model. Nicely done!

Perhaps the caps only become translucent when the engins are running at higher power, the faster you go the more you see.

Or that's energy that bleeds through the otherwise opaque caps ... like the burners on an electric range.

Cool vid. Is the planet one you created, or did you use a terraformed Mars or Venus?

Very, very nice. Reminds me of one of my favorite SFX shots. Approaching Khitomer in TUC. Speeds towards the camera and then the camera pivots to follow as it heads towards orbit.

That is some excellent work, and excellent progress there! I can't wait to see a full-on theme song for the Phase II version of the Enterprise.
