Star Trek Remastered Original Series Completed.

CBS Digital wrapped production of the Remastered original series after almost two years of work on the project.

As reported by TrekMovie.com, the visual effects work on the original series has completed, with the final effects scene being completed shortly before midnight on April 21st. The last episode completed was The Cage and the last shot was that of the Enterprise as it sailed off into space at the end of the episode.

The project began in 2006 as an idea to honor the fortieth anniversary of Star Trek Almost 2,200 new effects shots were done, including dozens of matte paintings, new ships and four different Enterprise ships. The Enterprise ships included ones from the first and second pilots, the series and a mirror universe Enterprise.

Season Two Remastered Star Trek goes on sale August 5th. The artwork has been released, as seen at IGN.com which features Kirk and Spock in one picture, and the Enterprise in another. The color of the box is blue.

It is not yet known when Season Three Remastered will be available on DVD, or when the entire series will be available on Blu-Ray. An announcement is expected on the Season Three Remastered release by the end of the year.
