Luton Town, the first non-league club to win away at a top-flight team in the Cup since 1985. First ever to win away at a Premier League team. First non-league victory over a top flight team at all since 1988.

We all doff our caps to the Hatters!

It was a good weekend for lower league clubs in the cup!

So, that's what Léo and Carlo meant by "except Lucas Moura, no one will come to Paris this winter".
I know it's mainly a question of glamour and marketing but still...

I find it odd that Beckham joins PSG at the age he should have been joining LA Galaxy, but then he joined LA Galaxy at the age he should have joined a club like PSG.

I guess Victoria fancied living in Paris for a while.

So transfer deadline day, and Harry continues his mission to destroy QPR, seriously the guy was moaning about players being paid too much yadda yadda yet has splashed a ridiculous amount of cash this window. I fear for QPR I really do...

I fear for Forest too (well in between giggling)

She isn't coming for the moment.

Anyway, it's not really a sportive decision, it's a question of image. 2 days ago, the PSG was a little known, since yesterday, everyone has heard about it. That's one of the points

True. I like how people are already cynicaly commenting that dnating his wages to charity is some kind of get around France's new taxes and that he'll actually be paid more surrepticiously!

Yeah, I think there is something like that too but in the end, it doesn't matter. It good for the image of the team, it's good for Beckham's image, it's good for the charities who will receive the money. It's a win-win situation.

Just imagine that glimmer of hope the fans must have felt on Friday, opening papers to read rumours Mcleish had quit!

The news should not be allowed to tease me with such things, Alex is a dead man walking and the owners are showing their true colours. Not good days

Re: (UEFA) Football Thread - Football not Soccer

I'm going to be the happy supporter again : 1st of the Ligue 1 but this time it's not thanks to the goal difference ! Lyon lost this afternoon and is 3 points behind and Marseille lost a few minutes ago (at home against the last team of the Ligue 1 ) and is 6 points behind.

It's a perfect week-end

Re: (UEFA) Football Thread - Football not Soccer

Are they the Venkeys in disguise?

Utter madness, if anything sacking McCleish isn't the worst of it, I still don't quite understand why they sacked O'Driscoll given Forest weren't doing too bad under him. I guess there's always this need for instant success, but hard to think of many managers who've proven an instant success and got a team up at first time of asking...well aside from Jim Smith and Billy Davis with Derby of course

I think Ambramovitch has to take some of the blame, for constantly sacking managers yet getting success at the same time (although you have to wonder whether Chelsea might be even more succesful with some managerial stability).

I guess the worst case scenario for Forest would be if Al Hasawi does make himself manager? Clearly if he doens't they'll be looking for a puppet of some kind, so Forest fans' dreams of Billy returning would seem unlikely, I suspect Billy would engineer his departure quicker than even McCleish did!

I sometimes wish Derby had more ambitious owners than we do, but at times like this I'm sincerely glad we're run the way we're run.

And the poison dwarf returns...on a 3 and a half year contract.

Hmm, wonder what odds I'll get he'll be long gone before the end of that period?
