Wow. That looks so simple. And yet it's so elegant. I like how you've used the plating to break up the shape. It's subtle, but a big improvement over the last.

Whoa! That "painted" detail looks at first glance almost like a polygonal "clay" render!

Sincerely,

Yeah, if I squint at it, it defo looks like part of the model. Great stuff, you've gotten ace at digital painting.

Wasn't really intended to be indistinguishable from the model. That would require more time and effort than is warranted for what is essentially a concept "sketch."

Re: Star Ship Polaris

Finally got the time to resume work on the model this weekend. Using my recent paintover as a guide, I've added most of the detailing around the aft booster engines, though I still have to freeze the SubD objects, optimize them and do quite a bit of additional work in this area. I'm hoping to get most of that done tomorrow.

Just for kicks, I decided to do an exploded view to show how many different parts are involved here:

I'd say the model is now about 85% finished and I'm hoping to finish it up within the next couple of weeks.

Awesome, I love all the separate parts. I like to do things that way, too... so many models I download and look at are modeled as one part. Can't wait to see it finished.
