'Star Trek XI' Tidbits
As reported at Reelzchannel, J.J. Abrams was grateful for a recent bout of bad weather. "Just for this one scene that we happen to be doing that requires this kind of weather," he said, "literally it could not be more perfect. So selfishly we're all very excited that the weather has been cooperating." Abrams discussed the date change from Christmas Day to May 2009, saying "It wasn't something that I did, it was something that [I] was told was going to happen," he said. He felt that the move would be advantageous though. "This new date gives the movie an even bigger opportunity for an audience." Anton Yelchin gave a broad description of the Star Trek XI story line as reported at the Chicago Sun-Times. "It is an origin story," he said. "It's really about how everyone's favorite characters...got to the Enterprise. It's about how it all comes together. It's not just them arriving and saying, 'Let's just kick it on the Enterprise.' It's really an epic story full of different action and drama." He went on to talk about the Enterprise. "The new Enterprise ship isn't straight out of the '60s," he said. "But they did take some '60s elements and keep them. The whole project is really a balance between the old series and the new film." IESB reports that actor Tom Cruise visited the Star Trek XI set recently. There had been rumors that Cruise would have a small cameo in the movie, and his multiple-hour visit to the set has caused speculation to rise again. The official Star Trek XI site has a new location. It can be found here. To hear Abrams, head to the video located here. The articles are located here and here. |

Re: 'Star Trek XI' Tidbits
I don't really like Cruise, but then again there are a lot of actors I don't like. I probably wouldn't see anything if I worried about them.

Re: 'Star Trek XI' Tidbits
I tend to agree, especially if it's an uncredited appearance. I'm more interested in how the weather worked in J.J.'s favor; can't wait to see what that scene looks like.
