About the nacelles. You're not thinking they are curving inward are you? As far as I can tell, they are the same dome shaped fans but lack the actual dome, nor i there any back lighting. I think this creating a difficult optical effect.

The 'airplane' comment from the description of the trailer, and some comments I've read here, make me wonder if that's what people are seeing. I can certainly see that, I had to look carefully to understand.
Plum -- I agree. Are we the only ones seeing the domed-nacelle covers? Like I said before, they are dark in that photo. Once they are lit, it will be easier to see the dome covering the moving "blades".
Yes, well, I don't think the dome is dark (no reflections), just missing.

The problem right now is I'm going to have to wait too long to see more... gah, I really need that teaser trailer!

Anyway, got the Enterprise on my desktop now. Stunning!

FleetLord said:I can see it now, the Enterprise vs. Trek XI continuty argument as to why the NX enterprise (and Columbia) was built in a space dock and the movie Ent built on Earth. I'm sure ther are a ton of reason they can explain it.
Who said that every part of the NX-01 was built in space? All we know is that, like the 1701(r), we see the final touches being applied in space. I don't recall anyplace in that series that stated that the nacelles were built from scratch in orbit, or that the main bulk of the saucer may not have been built planetside and lifted into orbit. We only know, really, that when Archer and Trip were flying around the ship before launch day, when it was nearly completed, it was in space.

That's not really evidence of anything.
This was based more on seeing the skeleton of Columbia in spacedock in the 2nd season final episode 'The Expanse'. Again, perhaps new stonger antigrav technology or sometype of new tractor beam exists to lift the Conny to a spacedock to complete construction 80-90 years after 'Enterprise'. Or other ships just pull it up there like we have helicopters carry things today.

Me too! I love space ship construction pictures.

Anyone else besides me humming the motion picture theme when Kirk sees the enterprise?

Looks about like I expected. Too much TMP and not enough TOS for my taste.

But . . . it doesn't suck and if this is the direction things take overall, I'll be happy.

Re: Enterprise Pic

One thing to bear in mind, too... The Enterprise was launched many years before we ever saw her... under the command of a guy named April. So, if we're seeing her as CONSTRUCTED... who's to say that that's not how she really started out, but didn't get refit later on into what we know?

It's more information than we had, but it's not YET conclusively contradictory of anything.

Someone's going to have to dig up a still, but IIRC Columbia had huge holes in its hull while under construction, which isn't consistent with building the hull planetside. Wouldn't you seal the hull before orbiting it?

Edit: shoulda read FleetLord's post before replying.
