She looks pretty buff, nacelle-wise... and the saucer looks definitely more detailed and industrial than TOS... I like what I am seeking and am intrigued to see how she'll look in space. I just hope they haven't toughed things up too much... she also needs to be sleek, elegant and beautiful...

I hate the ST.com boards.

Anyway, in the book "A Flag Full of Stars", the Enterprise refit of the Saucer takes place on Earth and the bloody thing just takes off by itself. Pretty crazy. I remember looking at the cover like, what the hell? The pic depicts only the saucer flying through space, it threw me off.
Gabe's in on it those nacelles look alot like his SOL entry. As long as that is as far is it goes I can live with it, but if starts looking more like a nuBSG remake job on the big 'E' I will be disappointed. As far as her sitting on terra firma wasn't there some back story about April in the novelzation by Foster in the Counter Clock Incident going to look at her under construction and that they where going to tractor the sections to orbit or some such?

Those are some big-ass engines.
Looks like those "Pudgy" images that Boeing uses for its production model a/c -- where the fuselage is not much longer (fore to aft) than the engine nacelles, and is about the same diameter.

I'm not going to lie... I'm not extremely impressed. It looks exactly like an updated version of the Enterprise would.... Technically sleek but without much personality.

Re: Enterprise Pic

I'm satisfied. What little I've seen is enough for me to get a sense of what this movie is going to be, visually.

Just a little thing to throw out and I don't care if this is how the Enterprise appears throughout or not but, as a thought exercise, the Enterprise as it appeared when it was commissioned doesn't have to completely resemble the Enterprise as early as even "The Cage". The Enterprise changed its appearance in ways large and small between its first appearance in the original pilot and its last appearance in TSFS.

Like we'll see different versions of Spock, we might see subtle or not so subtle differences in the Enterprise especially since the age of the actor who plays Pike suggests that he was in command of the Enterprise for a while and that, in turn, the Enterprise was around for at least as long. A definite maybe.

Either way, that's a great looking pic!

Re: Enterprise Pic

It'll be interesting if this Enterprise starts to morph into the Enterprise of TOS as the film goes further and further, or starts to resemble it more with sequels.

For some reason, that official picture feels like it should have the James Horner Trek music to go with it.

No, I mean the James Horner seafarer-type music from Star Trek II and III.

Listen to the Main Title.

I did some brightness/contrast manipulation and erased the big boom out of the background. Then I traced over it. The layers below are the result.

Looks like those things under the bridge are staying.

I'm thinking that's the bridge area itself. We'll get at least a three way view of the stars.

Bet the main screen is a holoviewer.
