My guess is the proper trailer will be out and attached to the new Indiana Jones movie. That's a perfect opportunity to reveal it. Lots of people are going to see it.

As for this teaser it may not be actually included in the movie so all this talk that it violates canon is rather premature. But some aspects of fandom always goes in guns blazing before seeing the final product. Trigger happy fans are getting annoying.

Hmm...upon re-reading, my response came out wrong.

"Well obviously" was a sarcastic jab whereas the was the actual response to the comment. I fully believe until I see/hear otherwise that this movie is part of the greater whole and won't "decanonize" anything.

Personally I liked the trailer. Though I found it strange the Enterprise was being built on Earth, especially at such an advanced stage of construction.

I think the teaser is just meant to be symbolic. I don't think it will actually be included in the film and won't be canon.

I liked the trailer. I had heard Cloverfield would have the the trailer (thats not why I watched the movie) but I did not now I was watching the Star Trek trailer till it was almost over.

Anyone worried about that can rest easy, judging by a response I just got from Roberto Orci over at Trekmovie.com. See my post 256 and his 286, midway down that page. Hopefully his " All signs point to 'yes' " cryptic response implies somekind of nod to ENT. Fingers crossed.

No, but thanks for playing. Really, if Cawley's awe about this this project, and one of the chief things he brings up about talking with Abrams is that he "Gets" the philosophy of Trek can't convince you... nothing reasonable will.

However Trek is exactly whatever Paramount chooses to label as "Star Trek". It belongs to them.

Everyone working on this film has shown a working knowledge of the franchise by those actually paying attention to what they're saying.
