You know, that video's been shared around these parts at least a half dozen times, but it never stops being funny.

Even managed to fit boom-shock-a-locka into it.

Hey!

Did y'all know that Claudia Christian is guest starrin' in this week's episode of Nip / Tuck? FX promoted the hell out of Rosie O'Donnell comin' back, they didn't even mention Commander Ivanova, though they have been showin' her in the promos (she's the one who has had her back to the camera while takin' off a black bra).

Babylon 5. Definitely one of my favourite sci-fi series ever. Although I don't remember any specific quotes right now, I have to say that Londo's cynicism was the best thing. If you compare it to any of the current sci-fi series, it does not even come close to B5. The storyline was complex, full of surprises, heartbreak and of course moments of pure satire. Unfortunately, today's series play it safe, they embody that whole "Hollywood profit making" crap with no wit or character

And as I always like to point out, here are the lyrics. In special fanboy annotated form: Link

Tom Smith is one of THE best filk artists in the star system. A few years ago we attended a con where he was a guest of honor. I dressed up in my Army of Light uniform, and my wife went as "bad hair day Delenn". When Smith saw is in the audience, he said "you guys wore that just so I'd sing this song, right?"

Ahh... a thread about my favorite show in the forum dedicated to my other favorite show. Nirvana.

And that Barenaked Ladies parody video... I'd never seen it before, but it was absolutely priceless. "I have a history of lopping off heads..." I totally cracked up.

I rewatched Season 4. Apart from the dated look of the show (not the CGI, just the sets), I can't help but feel it would've been a lot better if the guy behind it, Michael J something, got a better script writer in to improve the dialogue.

Great show otherwise.

J. Michael Straczynski is the writer's name, Joe to his friends, and JMS on the internet for those too lazy to look up the spelling of his name (I'm one of those people).

Agree with you on the part of the dialogue. JMS can write great monologues--but monologues are not always appropriate, and it would have been helpful to the series (IMHO) to have somebody onboard to help him revise scripts and, in addition, to have him bounce ideas off of in order for JMS to realize they were crap (certain portions of season five, which JMS owns up to in the script books, for example).

I do love that scene between Kosh and Sheridan though.

"I hate when you do that.."

"Good."

Re: Niners Unite...around Babylon 5! - The Lost Threads

I would like to ask a question about one of the actors - Jeff Conway.

My satellite dish defaults to the TV guide channel....and this morning I turned on the TV to burn a movie I'd recorded on my DVD recorder, and caught him on some celebrity weight-loss show.

Sure, he had some weight to lose...but not all that much. The thing that I was SHOCKED about was that he was clearly on drugs (badly slurring his words, being ***extremely*** (and I do mean EXTREMELY) hostile and abusive to the other players, etc).

What in the world happened to him, Neroon? I don't keep track much of actors, as you know...but this was very sad to see. I didn't even recognize him at first, he was so out of character for the person I expected him to be.

I mean, you expect everyone to age...and perhaps pick up some weight, of course. But wow - he was a total jerk on this show. And that doesn't come with age - that comes with addiction.

Can you give me some backstory here?

I'm not Nerroon but I heard of that at the time (about a year ago, iirc). Word was that he went into rehab and when I saw him a few months later at some TVLand awards show, he looked okay, if kind of shaky. His fellow Taxi cast members seemed glad to see him and supportive, though.

I heard that Jeff had had past issues with drugs so it's probable that he had a 'slip' that was hopefully short-lived.

^ Thanks for responding, Jan. I appreciate it.

Good news that he went into rehab. That was the answer I was hoping to receive, actually. I hope he is okay now...because wow...that bit this morning was very difficult to watch. I could only stand it for a few minutes - it wasn't what I'd turned the machine on for in any event...but it was so sad that I wouldn't have watched it for long, even if it had been.

I didn't recognize any of the other players. Had they all been on the same show at one time or something?

Not that I know of. I've never watched the show so I don't know what the criteria was except that they were supposed to lose weight.

I can imagine that it was painful to see. I'd heard it described as a total meltdown. Some people have speculated that it was all an act but judging from what I saw at the award show, I figured it was probably real. Poor guy, to have that shown over and over.
