Rank ALL the DVDs, by Doctor. Part 3 : Tom Baker

Back again after a short hiatus. This time it's my favourite doctor, Tom Baker's turn. As always these are based on story alone, so a DVD viewing is not strictly necessary -

Fourth Doctor :
Genesis of the Daleks
The Robots of Death
The Talons of Weng-Chiang
The Ark in Space
Horror of Fang Rock
The Pyramids of Mars
The Brain of Morbius *
Planet of Evil
The Pirate Planet
City of Death
Robot
The Stones of Blood
The Ribos Operation
The Androids of Tara
The Sontaran Experiment
The Armageddon Factor
The Hand of Fear
The Power of Kroll
The Invisible Enemy *
Logopolis
The Keeper of Traken
The Invasion of Time
Destirny of the Daleks
The Leisure Hive

There, I think that's all of them
* ..Morbius is due here in October, and The Invisible Enemy is out next month - I have however seen and enjoyed these many times and have ranked them accordingly based on the stories.

Please feel free to share with us your rankings.

Should be noted that only the last five stories on my list are serials I wasn't impressed with.

Re: Rank ALL the DVDs, by Doctor. Part 3 : Tom Baker

Actually, I'm in the midst of watching City of Death again and I think I'd almost forgotten how utterly brilliant parts of it are. I think I'd probably rank it a little higher on review.

As Moffat says in the DVD extras - what Douglas Adams brought to Doctor Who was that he allowed us to see what Doctor Who would be like if it was written by a genius.

Just finished watching episode 2 of this fine serial and it is an absolute masterpiece, at least in terms of witty dialogue and humour.

My absolute favourite part is when the Doctor, Romana and Duggan are held captive in the Count's dungeon/basement. The Doctor takes out his sonic screwdriver in preparation of making an escape. The device fails to function. Duggan rather brusquely snatches it from the Doctor and bangs it against the lock, much to the Doctors horror. "Well what else is it good for!?" says the ignorant Duggan. The Doctor wrestles it back from his hands and returns again to attempt to use it properly. Now it actually works. "Would you like to be my technical advisor?" says the Doctor.

Pure Douglas Adams. Pure brilliance.

The only thing that even begins to drag it down is all that tedious running around Paris.

I'm a bit rushed for time, so this will have to do. I might return for a more considered opinion.

City of Death

Everything else

(for reference, Timelash would go here)

Planet of Evil
