What do they expect? I'm a hardcore fan and even I lost interest in the year long wait. It's all their doing. This show could be on NBC, as big or bigger a hit than Heroes.
To be fair, nuBSG HAS been on NBC pproper twice - and both times got the lowest ratings for NBC in the timeslots it was shown in the last few years. Wheter you like the series or not; it's ratings perfermance has shown it wouldn't survive as an actual major network show.

NBC showed repeats on a Saturday.

And we will get season 4.5, they already have filmed up to episode 4-14. It's just a really good thing Moore decided to end the show this year instead of worrying about.

So I don't know why everyone here is worrying about pointless ratings.

Just count me among those who wait for this show on DVD. I hate that SCIFI does these bullshit long hiatus periods on its shows. I still contend that the only way to build a bigger audience is to give a consistent opportunity to view the show. You cannot have a year between seasons and interest people to come back. Add BSG to the list of shows like Farscape that casual viewers just forgot about.

No one is really worrying about ratings. This is all just about one or two people in this thread who desperately want the rest of us to cry "Uncle." Which, of course, is never going to happen.

Why? Because we got everything we wanted. And in the world of genre shows (hell, most television shows), that almost never happens.

It's like following around the guy who just won the lottery and rambling on and on about how there was a coffee stain on the lottery ticket. "Was there? Maybe there was. Who cares? I won! How could that stain possibly matter now? What does that have to do with anything?"

There isn't much else for us to do at this point but feel sorry for the guy who is trying so hard to convince us that we shoudn't be as happy as we obviously are.

And what would ever motivate anyone to even bother trying to do that, other than their own unhappiness? So again, I guess we should feel sorry for them.

Or just loan them our BSG DVDs to try to cheer them up.

Oh that makes sense.

I was looking and thought "10 pages?!?! That many people are worried?!", glad to know it is just a few ignorant people. Obviously I didn't read the whole thing.

I would have used the word "persistent." But I wouldn't want to insult you by disagreeing with your choice of words, either.

You also have to keep in mind that up until five days ago, the last post in this thread was January 17, so it was pretty dead for a couple months there.

Very nice ratings...

BSG is back over the 2 million viewer mark for SciFi Channel, and is getting some of its best ratings in two years in key demographics as the cable channel's signature show returned to Friday nights.
The Season 4 premiere earned a 1.6 household rating for the 10 p.m. slot, which translated into 2.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research and Multichannel News. All but 600,000 of those viewers were in the adults between the ages of 25 and 54 demographic, while all but 100,000 of those were between 18 and 49.
The numbers are at least a spike overall compared to the third season, which averaged about 1.9 million viewers during its second half. It has, however, matched the 2.1 million viewers that tuned into the first half of the season when it aired on Fridays, possibly indicating that it was good for SciFi Channel to move the show back to its Friday timeslot
reported by SYFY PORTAL.

There is also DVR we have to think about now. Many more people are watching recordings instead of watching it live.

Ah yes....the nebulous uncounted people recording the show...

Of course I'm betting the same percentage recorded it when the ratings were good...

For the "DVR" argument to have merit you would have to have an increase in recorded viewings while having a decrease in live viewers....

fails logic test.
I don't see why, based on my own experience. Just a year ago I watched all my shows live, but now I hardly watch a show live. It's easier to record it on dvr and watch later, even if it's just 20 minutes so I can skip the commercials. That's still time-delayed. The only reason I even watched BSG live on Friday was because the reception in my room sucked that night, so I had to watch in a room without a dvr. Otherwise, I might have recorded and watched later.

How many other people have started watching shows time-delayed, since DVR's are so damned convienent in the last two years? I know that since I got my dvr, I've been using it more and more. I can't even imagine life without it now.

I watch around a dozen tv shows and the only shows I watch live now are Lost and Heroes. Everything else I time shift. As more and more people get DVRs I think the number of people time shifting with go up and up.

Take Syfy Potral with a wee pinch of salt, the website has been a Battlestar lackey zone for sometime now. Was calling for the cancellation of StarTrek Enterprise since the first season aired and promoted the new Battlestar even before the fist actor was even cast, back in the days michael even threatened to sue members of Trekbbs when they proved some of his 'ST Enterprise' statements to be false. You can make a 1.6 by doing a little accounting spin with demographics and scifi numbers, but the true figure is something like a 1.3 nielsen rating

" As predicted, the Battlestar Galactica season four premiere will be bested by about 20 SpongeBob airings. The season four premiere did but a 1.3/2 (Household rating/share) and a 1.1/3 in the 18-49 demo (the good news, I suppose, is that almost the entire viewership was in the demo). , I can’t say I understand the phenomenon, but, as they say, it is what it is. Overall, the show drew 2.138 million viewers."

It's funny, I remember when they were reviewing Act of Contrition. The gave it a C+ and said the series was still finding its legs. They also reviewed Star Trek Nemesis and gave it an A, saying it was the best Star Trek movie since The Wrath of Khan.

But, this bit is a statistic, and not something that is subject to their questionable opinions on various things.

I've had a dvr for years. If you are counting starting on a twenty minute delay to skip commercials, then I watch absolutely nothing live.

Your logic is based on false premises (and a bet based on gut feeling, it seems. Nice logic there). What makes you think the number of people who record has stayed the same?

DVRing has increased in number, there is no doubt of that. For example, the DVRing of Stargate Atlantis was not even noticable last season, but this season, factoring in DVR means adding 0.2-0.4 rating points to the Live numbers; that's hundreds of thousands of people right there.
